Newbie question: I pause to drink potion but it is not always consumed

Post by ranger101 »

I am fighting. I hit pause. I drink healing potion. I hit hear Gulp. I hit space bar again. Sometimes the potion gets used and HP goes up, other times nothing happens.

Any ideas as to what is happening? Do I have to turn attack off or back away?

drinking a potion count as a "spell-like" action; and you can only make one spell-like action per round. So, if you cast a spell, or use an special ability and click over a potion it will wait for the next round (6 sec) to be "gulped" before it takes effect.

To add to this, if you have AI turned on and scripts running, it may cancel the action you just told it to do because the script overides it. This happens to me sometimes with drinking potions, but it happens a lot more when I try to turn the undead. I'll click the button over and over again just to have it cancelled instantly as my cleric decides it would be a better idea to charge right into the middle of a pack of undead. Charging into the middle of a battle is the job for my tank (aptly named "Tanky McLargeguy") and not my weak female cleric (the lovely "Sexy McHotstuff"). That's why my AI stays off.
