Question about Yoshimo (Poss. spoiler)

Post by Seegs7 »

Ok, I need some advice on my situation. I have just arrived in Spellhold without Yoshimo, and I would like to gain the exp. from doing the cleasing of his heart. The problem is that I have a full party, which consists of: Myself(Monk), Keldorn, Jahiera, Nalia, Anomen, and Jan. So I have a full party of six, and I am debating whether or not to reload before I go to the asylum, add Yoshimo and drop one of my party members.

Is it worth my time to reload and accomplish this for the exp., or should I continue foward with my full party and forget about Yoshimo?

Thanks in advance!!!

I'd say keep playing with your current party - you're not going to miss the XP from Yoshimo's heart quest. It's only worth taking Yoshimo to Spellhold for the Storyline, and/or you plan to pick up Imoen.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

If you only want to bring him along for the XP, then I agree with Sojourner: don't bother.

If you are more interested in the plot and getting dialogues you might not have gotten before, then, yes, reload.
You will run afoul of both a common misconception and a family of bears.

If you take Yoshimo with you his share of experience gained in Spellhold is definately lost. If you don't, you won't get the XP for saving his soul. The smaller the party, the better you fare with not taking him into your party. I've never counted the XP gained in Spellhold but I don't think that taking Yoshimo there gives you a major advantage.

@Phantom Lord, Since he is lost fairly early in Spellhold, he will not take too much exp from your party....and what do you mean the smaller the party the better you fare by not taking him? - how can this be so...I guess knowing the exp available for spellhold would help us understand his worth better.... :)

What I normally do is use Nalia when I'm running around in the first few chapters, then just as I head off to the asylum I drop her and pick up Yoshimo. I take him out to spellhold and kill him, then pick up Imoen. I could never leave her out of one of my parties! She's extremely useful as a mage and her thief abilities are fine (lvl 6 thief) for the entire game.

By taking in Yosh, you basically will be left with a 5 member party should you decide not to pick up Imoen. You will get more exp because there are less to share. Should you decided to pick up Imoen, then the only exp loss is the one that Imoen gets instead of your original party, plus the stuffs between start of trip and spellhold. At most it will just be 200000, which is about 1 lvl off the pace. If you decide to drop someone, drop Nalia, as she is nearly a duplicate of Imoen.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm just going to press on with my orginal party of six, since I'm now moving forward through the Underdark. :)
