Okay, great idea for a sub-plot in Baldur's Gate III. What if in BG3 all mages have their spell book on them, their grimorem, the source of their power, or a grimoem that boosts spell potency or intelligence, which is STOLEN. Thus making the mage as harmless as a kitten. You could spend a whole chapter with out spells, but tune yourself to attacks and using a quarterstaff more effectivly. Yes I love mages, but who deosn't, easily the best characters, since they can kill monsters from a distance, instead of being level drained or something.

P.S does anyone know where BG3 will be set, Waterdeep perhaps?

Bg3? think about it, your pc is already powerful, unless you are an offspring from the old pc then it would be to easy (planescape torment)

Err... the problem is that spells are memorizide, not read from the spell books, most mages have two spell books, one for general use and one safe keep at home just in case....
A nice idea for a quest...
BG III is most likely to be on the sword cost, were is on it that is the question (note: Waterdeep is 10 times the size of the city of Baldur´s gate)

Ten time the SIZE. And that's a bad thing because? My faviote thing is exploring and going to and fro in Baldur's Gate and Ankathla. Bring it on Waterdeep. Then again it's full of all those stuck up nobles, in lamest term, a city full of Anomen's children.

It would be a game were you (unless they remove the great majorety of the city itself) would adventure only in that city.
Waterdeep is a campain module itself.
Its a massive city, belive me.

I agree with Drakron. It isn't feasible as an expansion, cuz it would be an entire game in and of itself. I think you'll find yourself once again on the sword coast with a few new areas to explore, such as TotSC for BG1.

"Throne of Bhall" is not the "official" name, in fact Bioware said that a ad on was likely but someone have said that Bioware was going to make one.
TOSC and HoW only added more areas and equipent to the game (besides a higher XP cap), the BG II ad on is more likely to just do the same.
And why not a BG III, all games made by bioware (and Black Isle, PS:T and IWD/HoW were made by Black Isle) have being selling very well, with the end of the license at 2005, a BG III is very likely to be made, even a new game like IWD is likely to be made.
They got Four years to make games with the AD&D license.

It's all governed by money, and BGIII would definitely sell well. I think it is quite possible, though it certainly won't be with the infinity engine, since they are scrapping that. We'll see what they come out with. Just cuz it isn't going to be the same engine doesn't mean they won't do a follow up. Much of it depends on the success of NWN. I think if NWN does as well as they think, then they may scrap the BG storyline in favor of the new line. They are limited in the number of things they can work on, after all.

Who ever said the Bioware was scraping the infinity engine?
NWN is not using it, BUT IT NEVER WAS TO USE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, that game (NWN) was inteded to have a 3d engine all along, it started do be made after BG I come out, Also NWN IS A ONLINE RPG GAME, it does have a single player mode but its not what is inteded to be.
The Infinity engine is perfect to birds eye view games, like BG I, II, PS:T and IWD and perhaps BG III, in fact I belive that they are using the engine on the Star Wars game.
But its early to start to say what engine is going to be used on the Star Wars game, but making a new engine takes several years, so improving the infinity engine and use it makes sense.

All the comments out of Bioware and BIS say they've improved the infinity engine and taken it about as far as it will go. I think they're going to go with something else. Maybe not the same as NWN, but a newer engine all together. Everything they say seems to indicate that infinity is out the window for future projects. I admittedly haven't researched this super-thoroughly, so I could be way off base here, but that's IMHO.

Well they have already made a Fallout III, made by BioWares and Black Isles, in fact the reason I bought Baldur's Gate was I enjoyed Fallout I and II so much. So it just goes to show they're not against third additions.

guys, pls go to this site to see the ad. of BG2 expansion - Throne of Bhaal.
http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/#PQN266512

guys, the ad. says "continue the compelling saga of Baldur's gate 2 to it's ultimate conclusion as you fullfill your destiny of the child of Bhaal", is that mean BG3 would be very unlikely?? means ascensions? well i would think so, what do you gus think can you still continue your life after your destiny is over(pls not think in terms of real live, think in fantasy world)? thus at least your character you've created in BG2 would die or became god of something, or might be just gone.

well, still has a slightly chance to have BG3 then , with your character's offspring, but i don't really like that idea

@drakon, i know you are very good at bioware's develpoment, as what technology they are using, but think of the stroy line pls,

and then it says, it's at Watcher's keep yeah Image it would be a bloody long expansion i think. max level is 40, well always can remove the cap, well means you can earn millions of ex? it's got to be a bloody long game Image Image Image
