Multiclassed character

Post by Wyvern »

Hello guys,

I am posting this since I am not really sure how to subscribe a multiclassed character. First of all I am not sure how the multiclassing works in NWN. I don't know if it will follow the same rules as Baldur's Gate (and Co.) series or you will start in one class and you are free to further develop into the second class at any time as you see fit (with penalties if the difference in levels is bigger than 1).

So, if I want a ranger-thief:

- can I subscribe it as a ranger and further develop it in the game as ranger-thief

or

- do I have to subscribe it as ranger-thief?

In both cases, do I join the warrior wing, the nature wing, the rogues wing, all of them or is it up to me to choose?

Thanks :)

Well it's based on 3rd Edition rules, which I know very little about. :o

However for wings, you generally pick the first class. :)

EDIT- It won't be possible to hold a place in multiple wings.

Not necessarily true, I would have said that you choose the wing that you want to go in or whatever your favourite class is. :)

There is an issue of favoured classes in 3E d&d as far as i know from PoR, human and Half-elf favoured class is considered the one with the higher level. Because there no levels at this time maybe you can choose the wing you like.

In 3.ed all multiclassed characters start as a single class character - when you then gain levels you can instead of gaining levels in your primary class, add extra classes (up to a total of 3 classes in NwN). Thus when you have a ranger and what to be a ranger thief, you can start as a ranger at lvl. 1 and when getting to level 2 instead of becomming a ranger lvl. 2 become a ranger/rogue lvl. 1/1 (=2 level character)

Therefor you can if you wish submit with both classes and pick the wing you wish to join, or submit with 1 class and when time comes and you multiclass, get it made to a multiclass ranger/rogue and get into the wing you wish (based on classes of course :D )

Hope this helps

Okay, got it, thanks. The 3rd edition rules apply. I was posting this mostly on the behalf of my girlfriend who submitted a ranger planning to give him later on rogue levels and join the rogue wing. I see that's possible, so we did it correctly.

[For Xandax] By the way, I don't want to press anyone or to push anything but, yeah, it's been a week we submitted our characters... and we didn't get any aknowledgement (positive or negative) whatsoever. If it's only a matter of time, no problem, take your time (I saw you had some problems - for that: get well soon!); I'm only afraid something went wrong... maybe in the submitting process or somewhere... hehe, you see, we're quite enthusiastic about this :)

Ohh, I thought something was wrong...
We sent them during the weekend period... character names Drynn Wyvernclaw and Luthien. Okay, we'll resubmit them tonight, then. Can we do it by mail?

Thanks!

:) Well, let's put it this way: this game caught me already, hehe :) And it's a bit strange posting on this board as long as I'm not a memeber... anyway, I hope I didn't offed anyone... if so, apologizes.

Character:

Drynn Wyvernclaw, Elf, Chatic Good, Sorcerer, Str 10, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 16. I have to check the stats, I have them at home, but I think they are right.

-----------

Drynn was born far away in the south in a small but prosperous elvish community called Elirien.
He does not talk about his past often, not even to his very few friends. When asked how he became an adventurer, Drynn turns around and says 'Mind yer own business'.

There are rumours however that he was very well educated and high perspectives awaited him. But then there has been a great conflict - Elirien was massacred by a barbarian horde seeking power and revenge. Few survived - Drynn among them... he went away from the place which once was Elirien shortly afterwards.

He swore to himself to leave his past, including his real name, behind. Though sometimes he thinks of revenge, his common sense tells him that that goal is not within his reach.
Now he is no more than a simple traveller, sworn to defend the good against evil. Or so his friends say...

Some call him 'Wyvernclaw' from the long black scar just few inches above his right eye. The story of the scar reaches long into the past - to the days when Drynn wandered alone for the first time. He met this wyvern in the cave where he prepared to rest for the night - it resulted in an ugly fight. He won - but the scar left by the wyvern's claw will join him for how long as he lives.

-----

1. 'Elirien' can change if necessary to get integrated in Argyle world.
2. I am aware that a character lvl 1 can't really win to a wyvern, but I kinda like the stroy, hehe :)

Yes, asked Xandax to put me in the rogue wing.
I feel more like a rogue then a fighter
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
