Disable Cloak of Mirrors Animation?

Post by Locus »

Hi, I'm new to this board. Thanks in advance for your help.

I heard that there is a way to disable the Cloak of Mirrors animation. I know how to change the cloak back into a true cloak of mirroring and not reflection, so I'm not talking about that. I just like being able to see my character and that globe is annoying to me. It's ok to see the globe on a mage during battle, etc. but to have it on all the time is distracting. I would like the original animation form BG2 back. Can you help?

yeah..it bugs me too. I will have a go at changing the one in the override folder...

but here's a question: when ToB updates your stuff, does it put it in Override just as if you'd updated it? Is that why there's a bunch of ITMs in there already?

Certainly - to get the old Cloak of Mirroring back, simply remove CLCK26.itm from your override directory.

Incidentally....doing this also restores the cloak's mirroring abilities........................

Thanks! I learned today how to restore the mirroring by doing a post search...didn't know it would eliminate the annoying animation as well. I'll try it tonight...if my girlfriend lets me. :)

The main installation of the expansion is done by adding several more BIF files - these are compressed version of things that you might see in the Override folder. The reason why there are things in the Override folder already is that these things are either last minute changes, or installed by patches - since it would be too big to replace the whole BIF file, when all you need is add a couple of files into the Override folder.
