Just out of curiosity why would she never do the damage of one of the other fighters?

I gave her that Girdle of Ogre strength (or whatever it's called) so she has 19 strength now. Her AC is -6. The only real issue I have is I have only foiund a +2 Scimitar so far.

Seems like if I got her a better weapon she could hold her own with the others. Maybe she would not be quite as good but I would think she would be close.

I'm just asking.

Thats the point...in order to get her to do more damage you have to give her extra stuff like a girdle of strength...which in my opinion is better served on a pure figher type...Secondly making jahaira a front line fighter totally negates her most useful abilities..."insect plague", "summoning", "healing"....this stuff works much better when shes not getting hit during casting...

Jahiera's weakness as a fighter is because she has a tough time reaching level 13 for the extra attack (I don't remember for sure if she ever gets there).

However she does have some nice weapons available. Already mentiond: Belm and Blackblood, but also Impaler.

Well, I could give the belt to Minsc but that would not be a huge deal since his strength is so high anyway.

I summon fire elementals prior to the fight and I have lots of healing with Anomen and Ariel (not to mention there are potions of extra healing to be found everywhere).

Minsc and two fire elementals are usually enough of a front line while Jaheira casts Insect Plague.

I'm not arguing by the way just discussing Image

This is my current group.

Me (16 Skald)
Anomen (16 Cleric, 7 Fighter)
Yoshima (16 Bounty Hunter)
Minsc (ranger forgot level)
Jaheira (11 fighter, 13 Druid)
Ariel (mage/cleric, forgot level)

I could add a melee type and use Jaheira as a Healer/caster but who would I drop? I like this group Image

Hmmmm, too many cleric types....not enough mage types...at least none that will get the high level mage spells. Bard and aerie...will not get level 7 and 8 spells. Anyway..Yes you do need a fighter. Personally when i play a non fighter...i use either korgan (evil or neutral party) or keldon (good party). I would replace aerie with keldon or valygar...Anomen is more than enough cleric and since you didnt pick up Nalia...You will have to rely on Imoen and you skald when you get imoen back. If you left enough quests imoen should hit level 16 or 17 by the time you get to the final battle which is more than enough to kill Irenicus.

I am going to play it through with this group and see what happens Image

Good point about the mage thing though. Next time I will switch things around.

I made it through the first BG with my main as a fighter with 15 strength (I thought 15 was good :\) and NO thief. Imoen was killed by that assasin outside the Inn where you meet Jaheira and Khalid and I never knew you could resurrect NPCs. I set off every trap in the game Image. Lots of save games and reloads. Gets a bit frustrating. Image

I lost Jaheira at the Gnoll camp later on and just kept playing through.

Silly as it seems now, I really enjoyed that first time through, figuring things out and losing groupmates in battle.

Saumarez...
I think you are right to play through as you are and not change based on what people thing...its different for everyone...just a tip for you however...because you will not get the high level mage spells to drop Irenicus magic shields at the final battles...you will need to keep jahaira back enough so she can cast insect plague on him...or you'll just figure out a way to do it yourself...Im sure you are up to it.
