No more kits. 3E multi-classing has replaced them.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Has it been officialy announced? I thought that was just a possibility. Great if it is, though. I much prefer full multiclassing ability than some sort of hybrid system.

This is true, i've just red the interview from the producer, Darren Monahan and he states that they withdrawn the kits from the game. here is a quote:

Have the character classes been finalized, or are there some possibilities still being tossed around? Any chance we’ll see the sorcerer equivalent of a Wild Mage?

Yes, we’ve settled on strictly 3rd Edition classes: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard. We previously announced that kits would be in the game, but through feedback from our fans and a number of new changes we’re making, we decided to remove them in favor of implementing more of the 3E rules.

My imagination has gone wild!

For the leader of the group I would have a LE Monk/Sorcerer, drow ( they are called dark moon monks or something like that), then I have also made up other interesting characters that I might implement
1-LE Monk/Sorcerer, dark-elf
2- TN Druid/Sorcerer, wood-elf, or human
3-_G Cleric/Paladin, moon-elf
4- CN Barbarian/Rogue, halfling
5- NG Fighter/Mage, human
6- CG Bard/Fighter, half-elf

This is sooooo good. Strictly 3rd Edition classes, but what about weapons!?! Is this also going to be 3rd Edition, everyone can use any kind of weapon? I hope so.

As far as i know from PoR, weapon proficencies in 3E D&D are divided in simple weapons which can be used from all classes , martial weapons for the fighting classes, armour and shield.

Archer!

Hey all! This is my first post, although I have been lurking for about a year or so now...

I personally think that the Archer is one of the best kits, it is well balanced with it's special abilities and limitations. It is a shame that they felt the need to down-grade the kit for IWD2... Anyway, I ramble on! Here is what I think I will play:

Wood Elven Ranger (Archer) Longbow and Longsword

I am also quite partial to the Monk as well, I just wish they would stop tweeking the kits!

Yep, kits are gone now (and it doesn't look like they're implementing the 3e equivalent, prestige classes either). But the freedom of 3rd edition mutli-classing more than makes up for it. Image

How does this fabled third edition multiclassing work? You choose your class at level up and something about exp. penalties?

What is the difference between multi classing and dual (is it possible to triple class now)? Who can do which, is choosing class at level up strictly human?

The BIS message board explains the new 3E rules quite nicely. Go here to learn all about multi-classing and more.

I hope they don´t add prestige clases to IWD II, cause first of all,
for those that do pnp, there are so so so many prestige classes that there is no way they can incude all of them, and second, well if they do it would be like having kits all over again. Not much diffrence really.

I agree. While there are some prestige classes I like, there are a ton that are broken, and all of them are subject to abuse by power gamers. Best to go without them in favor of game balance.

In my first party i'll be a pure spellcaster coverin my mates makin meats! :D

In my second party, on the contrary, i think i'll be a powerful tank, maybe a barbarian/assassin just to be of use during non combat times :p

This is all I've decided on so far.

CN, Tiefling, Rogue (Name: Desdemona Uriel)
CN, Drow, (class unknown)

Edit: I'm also planning on trying to make a char similar to my PnP character, a Chaotic Good Elven Fighter with a Dex of 20 that uses long bows and has the feats that improve archery skills.
Protected by Saturn, Planet of Silence... I am the soldier of death and rebirth...I am Sailor Saturn.

I would also like you to meet my alternate personality, Mistress 9.

Mistress 9: You will be spammed. Your psychotic and spamming distinctiveness will be added to the board. Resistance is futile. *evil laugh*

I know that this sound kind of lame, but I hope that they include some sample characters. I have played DnD for years, but I never bought the 3E rules. I don't understand them very well, and I don't want to have to wade through a whole bunch of new rules and crap! I want to PLAY! If they put in some sample characters it would help an old school player like myself in many ways.

to- The Stranger
I don´t think you are going to need sample characters to play, don´t worry. First of all, how do you think people how never played any dnd stuff, either pnp of whatever, are going to play the game. It´s a computer game, and as all comp games that are from original pnp games, the don´t even include 50% of the rules. And as you make you character at the begining, well it really explains everything to you. Also i´m sure the will explain some stuff in some kind of guide.

to- SS
i´m relaly suprised at the alignments you have chosen, CN.
i though you where one of those people that was either LG or NG.
And Drow, well SS, what DO you have on mind!?!
