the keys for a good fighter/mage

Post by Alson »

i'm starting my first TOB game and i've thoght very carefully on what party i want.
finally, i've decided:

Me - Fighter/illusionist (gnomish, multi)
heardalis
edwin
korgan
jah (will use SK to change her to a ranger-> cleric dual) *romance*
imoen (will use SK to change her to fighter/thief multi)

i want a six-members party for many interactions.
it's the first time im playing a f/m, though i did played a blade.
can you guys tell me any "secrets" about this class? tactics? any tips?
any help will be welcomed...

Some of the tactics include using sequencers to load up powerful spells and then just equip your F/M with powerful armour. That way, you get a fighter with a decent AC who can still cast powerful spells (because the spells are then accessed via the special abilities button - somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Especially since you are playing a gnome fighter/illusionist, spells like Blur, Mirror Image, Improved Invisibility, and so on would seem to fit right in with your PC concept (and make it a lot tougher for the baddies to hit you).
You will run afoul of both a common misconception and a family of bears.

actually, one should use sequencers for buffing spells, and fight with contingency and cahin....

I usually load up spell trigger with triple sunfire, and since my kensai mage does not use spell sequencers, except for emergencies, load up with dispell magic, haste and remove fear.

if you have a spell fizzle with trigger or sequencer, you cant cast teh spell agin, cause the affect still is in your cre file, and if you target a enemy that just went invisible, sequencers will fizzle.

so i use triggers and sequncers to use radius of damage spells, like sunfire or skulls if you have belt of inertial barrior and have high hp, so you cast triple skulls on yourself, and take the damage, and the enemies will toast...

if you plan to cheat, give yourself use any item...

if you have that, and get holy avenger,

and get amulet of power and robe of vecna and ring of gaxx, simply unequipp and equipp after load, and with hell and lum rewards with tob you can get using devices alone, 90% magic resist.

with hardiness you are also resisting 40% of all physical damage..

dual high, and you can get fighter high level abilities, like hardiness and critical strike, and smite, and of coursel planetars and dragon breath. dragon breath is your friend!!!

or just do an outright cheat, make a elvish mage fighter, and spply kensai kit using sk.

or for real fun, take half elven cleric mage fighter, apply kensai kit, and with use any item, you have created a monster....

sorc kensais are fun too...
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!
