Jaylos and Caehan ???

Can anyone help me figure out what i'm doing wrong, please ?
I'm attempting to meet with Jaylos and Caehan at the Five Flagons Inn as per Aran Linvale's orders,, but they always attack me and no 'contact' ever shows. I've run around, tried every combination of responses to their statements , and cannot figure what I'm doing wrong. I even equiped the ring of human influence, to no avail.
A little help here, please ?

Have you gone back to Linvale afterwards and spoken to him, once you've disposed of them? If so, you should know that you didn't do anything wrong by getting in a battle.

I always use the dialog that let's me refuse to ID myself and accuse them. other than that, I don't know what else to say except listen to Fable

I just thought I was supposed to 'infiltrate' and wait with them, not just kill them and wait for 'Gracen'.
Sure took him long enough to show up,
guess I just lack patience.

I don't think the contact Gracen ever shows up, regardless of what you do. In my games, I kill them, and then he shows up, asks what is going on. No matter my reply he attacks me, so I kill him. I think he leaves behind a note on his corpse.
