Two handed swords or Haleberds?

Two handed swords or Halberds?

I'm wandering which is the best two handed weapon for Minsc (he has ** in both two handed swords and halberds):
for the two handed swords I have Lilacor and Silver sword, they are both +3 with good side attributes (I did'nt bough Warblade because I think is inferior, is a +4 but no side attributes) and for haleberds he is actually using Dragon breath (+4 with lot of elemental damage) and I could assemble the Wave.
To me it seems that Dragon breath is the best weapon: is a +4 and is faster compared to the swords, does elemental damage
(+ 5) that is helpful against protected mages and trolls, I would miss the vorpal effect of the silver blade (but chances seems small 25% with save) and the mind shield of Lilacor (I can use green ston amulet or helm of charm protection); I never used the Wave, but it seems inferior to Dragon breath (small chances to inflict extra damage and you can slain creatures you almost never encounter).
What is your opinions and I'm maybe forgetting some better one?
I'm also planning to go to ToB, what could be the best choice there (sorry if this question is for ToB)?
thanks

I've had great success with the vorpal sword. My party ganked Firkrag (sp?) in like 2 seconds. I'm sure I got lucky though. I'd use that sword, but as a lot of people don't seem to use the halbards, you might enjoy playing something different. :D

Personally, i think halberds suck! they have one of the slowest speed factors in the game and there ain't many of them.
Two hand sword, Lilarcor it may not be the best sword but it is the most entertaining :D :D

The speed factor for the two halberds above is both 5, while speed factor for Lilacor is 8 and for the Silver sword is 10(!), and for one character you just need one or two great weapon.
I agree with you that Lilacor is the most entertaining.

Ravager +6 (ToB) is one of the best weapons in the game, btw it's also vorpal. Dragon's Breath and Wave are good weapons too.

So if you go ToB, halberd is certainly an alternative.

doesnt minsc start with ++ in dual-wield, maces and two-handed swords? so it would mean 4 points to use halberds well but only 2 for 2H-swords or dual-longswords. for ToB that doesnt matter but it will take til the end of SoA til u have those 4 points...

i'd say get ++ (or at least +) in 2-handed first and use lilarcor, then u can switch to halberds. otherwise i guess its pretty weak with just 1 attack and no bonuses.

Thats what I did, I used Lilacor since my Inquisitor got Carsomir.
Now I'm in chpt 6 and I have the choice to use different weapons (got the ** in halberds) and in future when I'll go in ToB I'll have to leave a lot of stuff of SoA behind, so I'lll have to make some decision about what to bring with me. Thats why I was wandering how to equip Minsc (don't want to carry too much stuff).

Two handed swords

If you only want to stick with a few weapons I would say to stick with the silver sword for now. 25% is pretty good. I used the silver sword most of the time and found that alot of the time the creatures were vorpaled.

And why would you want to get ride of any of those items. Throw them into the bag of holding and pull them out when needed.

When I played I barely used the halberts. I found that they were never needed, when your party is at these high levels not much stands in your away. I think you could use a tooth pick and clean out any room. :D

investing a whole 2 prof points in halberds is a big commitment, and one which will only pay off very late in the game..without ToB not at all. Go for Long Swords, Maces, and either Sword & Shield Style or Two Weapon Style, with long bows and flails coming second priority...halberd's are crap until at least a third of the way through ToB.

My cavalier is specialized (2 prof) in halberd, twohanded sword, spear, mace and twohanded style.

I found mylsef using the Holy Avenger the most, obviously.

I had the Wave on secondary so I can whoop fire elementals and efreets in one shot. It always works and it's always one shot kill so why not.

Before the Wave and Holy Avenger I was using the Dragon Breath and Flame of the North for magic resistance.
The spear that did +10 damage was a nice weapon.

I kept the sword that gave immunity to psychic attacks for mind flayers and the mace of disruption for vamps.
