In the graveyard district down under the tombs ,it seems that I am unable to access the Northern dungeon(?)
Yoshi is unable to pick the lock even with a resist fear effect. How do I get in????????

The first thing you need to do, the most important of all, is ask a question with a single question mark. Repeating the question mark three or eight times actually lowers your strength and endurance, as well as decreasing your magical save in battle. Remember that. It's important.
As for the dungeon you mention, don't worry about it for now. You may end up entering it in chapter three, or you may not. I don't want to spoil it for you, so let's just say that it depends on an important choice you make that concludes chapter two.

That is all good, except that I still have not found the book for the dwarf. It seem that is missing. One more thing I think it is a bug or something My 11th level cavilier gained a level at 11th he had a 6 thaco and at level up recieved thaco reduction thus when I completed the level up I ended up with a thaco of 8 what's up with that!

The entrance for the area you're looking for is directly opposite the Spider nest. If you look more closely at the lower edge of the map, you'll notice an archway you can go through.
