Heart of Fury Mode

Post by slacker2 »

I am playing through for the second time, this time with HoF mode on. My party is all around 7th or 8th level and I am in the vale of shadows. I was just wondering when the game becomes more even. I am still getting stomped by goblins and skeletons. So far I fight then run and rest when I am about to die and I have to do this about 5 or 6 times just to clear out 1 room. When will i be able to stand and fight on even terms?:

Heart of Fury mode was designed for existing level 9+ parties. You've done well to get that far!!!

I almost completed the game in Heart of Fury Mode, starting with five dwarven warriors and one halfelf cleric at level 1 and kept the heart of fury option ON during the entire game with no exceptions.
The tides of battle, if you play the same way as I did, will noticeably turn after Ixonomei in the Dragon dungeon (what was the name ? It's been ages since I played IWD)
The severed hand, and after that, was really not that tough and you'll probably be able to do each map with one reload, none if you are lucky. Of course you need not be afraid to use the "raise dead" of your cleric often, almost after every battle, since it gives a better feeling than reloading until nobody dies. It's a pain having to equip one or more dead guys again almost after every battle, but you don't have to reload just because a single guy died, like in Vale of Shadows where you are now.

Oh, did I mention that in HOF mode you will hit the exp-cap sooner than expected.. and from then on, the tide of battle will slowly start turning again against you :) )))
For me that happened in the Island of the Dead in HOW.
