Final Irenicus in Hell problem

Hi there, first post here

I have this little problem,
Im at the moment where I have to battle Jon Irenicus in Hell, but when I have him almost dead he just stands there, no longer in Slayer form, -not attacking, and I can beat the hell out of him.
I left my party (Halfling Assasin, Imoen, Jan, Anomen, Keldorn, Valygar) beating on him for 15 minutes and ... he was still there.

I left those demons at the top of the map so I went soloing them with my Assasin, but Irenicus wasnt dead, and that bothered me.

Anybody have a solution?

Stop hitting him and he should say his last line

Kill the demons then try hitting him again?
