Ust Natha for Evil Parties, Spoiler requested
I am an evil party and I have just entered Ust Natha. I have read the Versus Books guide and I am wondering if I should do the evil thing and really kill the eggs. The book says it is 10 times harder (which doesn't bother me) but it says you get very little exp for doing it this way and that DOES bother me!! I am not going to do the difficult path if I don;t get the rewards for it!! Is this path worth doing or should I just be *ugh* nice to the Silver Dragon. (Trying to play class, but Bioware makes it hard sometimes)
by taking the evil path you mean killing the silver draggy on sight? -that would be wrong cuz you'll lose all the drow quests a lot of xp and items you can buy from the drow merchants. you better goto the draggy and talk with her, do the drow quests (evilway = killing the guy whose name I dont remember when ur asked to do so) at that point you'll get the items from the merchants, xp from quests and more xp if you kill all the drow in the city and do the side quests (the lich quest and so), you'll get xp and the silver dragon blood when u kill her... enough xp for your party and the studded human armor is a good one - it's also the right thing to do from the roleplaying pov.
(taken from a walkthrough - lemme know if copying such things is illegal on this forum and I'll edit this post.)
Evil Alternative: (from Cyrille Artho)
When you kill Solafein, he obviously cannot give you his fake dragon
eggs, which you normally use to trick Phaere. However, not
everything is lost. When you give the real dragon eggs to Phaere,
there are three possible outcomes:
1) You interrupt the ritual (bad idea). Matron Ardulace then casts a
spell that reveals the true identity of the party, and you are
chased out of the city. It will be rather difficult to recover
the eggs and kill all the drows.
2) You let the ritual be completed.
a) You prevent Phaere from handing over the eggs to the Demon Lord
(good idea). The Demon Lord then attacks everybody. He does
not have many hit points but you need a +5 weapon to hit --
which you probably don't have at that point (unless you have a
Paladin with the Holy Avenger). A cleric with four Bolts of
Glory (10d6 damage to demons) works well enough, since that
spell ignores magic resistance (which is 95 or 100% for the
Demon Lord). Killing the demon lord gives 26000 exp. Pray
that his initial "Wail of the Banshee" does not kill anybody;
if it does, *hurry* and don't try to re-equip everything
perfectly -- just get your stuff and leave *quickly*! If
nobody is killed, you actually even have time to sell Phaere's
gems to the drow before they all turn red and try to kill
you. Incidentally, "Protection from Evil" will not prevent the
Demon Lord from casting his first attack spell, but he will not
attack you immediately. Also, I could still get out of the
city just after the drow turned hostile -- probably it takes a
few seconds until the city gates are locked.
b) You let Phaere give the eggs to the demon lord (bad idea). He
(being a mean guy) reveals the true identity of the party.
Immediately, all drows turn hostile and attack the party.
Again, this way is not the best (you will also have to deal
with an angry silver dragon then).
Note: If you have recovered the eggs, don't talk to Adalon --
otherwise you can never kill her for her blood (because she'll
teleport you away). Instead, attack her right away. This gives
you less experience and no crossbow +3, only some gold and a
scroll that allows you to proceed to chapter 6 :-(
Personal note: I found it a pity that evil parties cannot let the
drow ritual take place as planned - a duel between the silver dragon
and the demon lord would have been a grand sight. Also, the story is
not very logical in the sense that the drow attack still happens,
despite the loss of their leaders (and a few powerful warriors due to
duels in the tavern and mysterious murderers) and not having the
demon on their side. No surprise, they lose.
Well...
The story is kind of based on the fact that you are good-aligned.
Sucks, don't it?
The story is kind of based on the fact that you are good-aligned.
- Your starting NPCs are Imoen (good), Minsc (good), and Jaheira (neutral). Also, Khalid and Dyhaneir were killed by Irenicus, so they came with you too.
- If you choose an "evil" dialogue response to Imoen at the start, she says you've "changed".
- Good-aligned characters can do soooooooo many more quests, and get soooooooo much more exp.
- The evil quests/rewards don't make sense, in the fact that you usually have to do something good to get them.
Sucks, don't it?
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
Yeah, I have played the game (as well as BG 1) with a good aligned party, but when I went back to replay I wanted to do it as an evil party to see what I was missing. The original BG wasn't much different, but I must admit I was more Neutral than Evil, but BG 2 has side quests and seemed to cater more to both classes, but then as you say, the game is still stilted more towards Good parties. I have been getting FAR less exp, and gold & items don't make up the difference. I don't get it, if you do the good thing you get 78,000 xp per person, otherwise 23,000 per party!!
BTW I didn't mean I was going to kill the dragon on sight, I was talking about killing her after the Drow stuff and killing her eggs. I am not sure I will do this though because ALL that exp is hard to pass up.

Ahhh....
TRUE evil doesn't worry about experience. We seek to rid the world of silly Silver Dragons and their pesky little eggs... besides, what good are Goody-Goody dragons anyway? Dragons are meant to be implements of destruction and mayhem. Not 'mothers' that seek their eggs.
Destroy the eggs! Destroy the Dragon! Destroy anyone who stands in your way and take the power in your blood!!
Who cares about experience when you can take that wicked evil sword later on in hell and slaughter the peasants?
Well, just trying to help!
