Stalker

Post by Dezarond the Red »

Ok, so i started an assasin and find myself already bored, i wanna play a fighter but less just run in front of you and chop till there aint nothin left to butcher, so i was thinkin the stalker would be good with his hide in shadown and motellos cloak with celestrial fury and some other sword in off hand, i just wanna know what you all would suggest.

Stalkers imho are very good character classes. the backstab and hide in shadows is great plus the mage spells are somewhat nice as well (chromatic orb saves are sometimes failed, its worth a try agianst some enemies). I think that wielding celestial fury or other katanas and longswords is nice. the druid grove sword and daystar makes you an undead killing machine and there are other great longsowrds as well. dont worry bout the armour because of the rings of gaxx and earth control and shadow dragon scale. all in all, i think the stalker is a great class.

Another stalker

I'm playing a stalker, and he's really powerfull. This is my status:

ST: 18/88
DEX 18
CON: 18
INT: 14
WIS: 16
CHR: 10

Put him 3 slots in two weapon style; 2 in longswords and katanas and my suggestion would be 2 slots in war hammers, because when you get Crom Faeyr and god - like 25 strenght with Hindo's Doom in other hand and Crom in other you will be invincible. Also I suggest 2 slots in longbows; they do more damage then the shortbows, althou it's a personal choise.
:D

Can you tell my what's your character's status?

How do you get cromatic orb with a Stalker?
I know you get 3 level three spells (haste, minor spell deflection and prot. from normal weapon(?), not sure), but never known of that.

i found that bleeding weapons (Valigar's katana, Gnasher club) are an exellent choice for stalkers, since they disrupt spellcasting, or at least really hinder it. actually, you don't even have to put profciencies into it - just do the first backstab with it, then switch to anything you like. my personnal favorit equipment for stalker when fighting spellcasters is:

helm of charm protection
aeger's hide (immune to confusion & some elemental resistance)
off hand - dragonslayer (immune to fear & dispell invis.)
main hand - gnasher for the backstab, then switch to:
flail of ages - stoneskined wisard
mace of disruption - liches/vampires
regular longsword - for prot. from magical weapons

this char is immune to all mind - affecting spells, without any buffing spells. of course, cast remove fear before a mage fight, switch to other weapon in off-hand (i like Belm, personnaly - for the extra attack and the cool looks of it), do an extra attack by your main weapon.

near the end of SoA - add ring of free action, equaliser - some more armour/weapons options

as far as hammers and katanas go - they are GREAT weapons, but i just don't like the way an avatar looks when holding them. especially the elf avatar, so i don't use them for a stalker

all mage spells a stalker gets r haste, prot from missiles and minor deflection (?), which r memorized like lvl3 priest spells.

i never played a stalker myself, but i love valygar with the right equipment, which is imo:
++ on katana, longsword and dual-wield (valygar already has katana/dual)

belt of hill giant STR (19), later more. or, alternatively maybe the bracers with STR 18/00. then, the cloak which makes u undetectable by true sight etc, this OWNZ for scouting and backstabbing.
as armor i have yet to find anything better than valygars personal, this one is prolly the best personal NPC item in game (except boo). in first hand i have CF/dragon sword/flaming tongue, depends whether its against normal/dragons/undead. second hand is daystar all the time. boots of speed r a must, and one of those +25% to all resists, +1 save helms is nice. for rings and amulet, some more resistances would b nice, i have 90% fire now and the rest is decent (~50).
valygars katana has nice bonuses, but there is one disadvantage: u cannot backstab with it.

conclusion? valygar ownz hehe ;)
(i just entered Ust'Natha with that party, there will b better longswords later on, but does anyone know about a better stalker armor?)
