Just finished off the Black Dragon at Suldanesellar and I remembered that I forgot to have my Wave Halberd pieces forged by Cromwell... so off to the Docks I went... as I was about to go back to the elven city, I just got curious how Aran Linvail would react if I visit him after I finished off Bodhi... he asked me if I was ready for my trip to Spellhold!
I saved that part of the game under a diff name so that I can check out what happens if I do decide to take the trip again...
Anyway, I also found out in the early part of the game, that you can ask for Aran's assistance without even having to pay Gaelan Bayle by entering the guild via the southeastern most door of the guild's building. Upon entering it you'll be coming from the southern part of Aran's level of the stronghold. No need for the key and it saves you one less loading time. When I talked to him it was just like I paid Gaylan the amount needed... that is of course, I assume, that one hasn't made a pact with Bodhi.
Back to Brynnlaw?! and a spoiler too...

Sorry, Grim, can't answer that question yet. My party is now in Saradush (ToB) and I haven't checked out that game which I saved prior to going back to Suldanessellar.Originally posted by GrimReaper:
One question. When you went back to Brynnlaw, were all of the quests reset, or was it as you left them?
I'll check it later after work then fill you guys in the details.

i've done the thing where you can go back to spellhold. everything is set as if saemon is waiting for you, if you try to go back to the sauhagin city, it gets stuck on the boat scene where you are attacking the githyanki.
i did not go back and try it again by going through the portal.

I sailed back to Brynnlaw and everything was just like I left it. Used Jon's key to go to the Underdark (the Pirate Lord is nowhere to be found) visited the dragon's lair (nobody's home), visited the drow city (and killed every drow inside) and left the Underdark and into the Exit.
What was interesting was the slide-in movies that did not show the characters that were previously killed (the captured Shadow Thieves when Jon finalized the spell to transfer Imoen's soul to Bodhi and the elven officers killed by Jon in front of the Matron Mother). Though there were no response from the obviously absent npc's, the dialogue still continued.
