The Master Wraith

Post by frogus »

Does anyone have any useful strategies for killing this swine?....He seems to either have a ridiculous number of HP or be immune to a great deal of attacks, and his hundred or so Devil Shades and Vampiric mists stop my casters from doing anything useful....rghh!!!!

actually, did everyone else find this fight easy? I have just put the difficulty up to hard, from easy, so it might be that...shall I jst turn the diff down?

If you've got a cleric, just make him turn undeads, and you'll have all the surroundings low leevl undead die.
Even better, if your cleric is Viconia, you'll take the control of all the shades and they'll just go beat The Master Wraith :)

I had to reload several times, but all of then because of the traps surrounding the party, one of them has a Death spell that fried Imoen every time...
I managed to kill them all by disabling party AI and making sure everybody don´t move. I wait for the lesser mists to close with my frontliners and then whack with whirlwind.
Meanwhile, summon a Planetar to fight the master wraith.

Use Sunray. Kills most of them. Then summon guys in.

I had trouble with him only because he feared Jan and I couldn't remove fear him because of his boots of speed.

I played Cavalier and used the mace of disruption to avoid level drain and then pounded my way through. Drink lots of potions when that guy is near.

Kill the backstabbing skeleton too. A few fireballs should take out most of his buddies.

Chaos was the one that got me, and I had no cleric. Basically, I chaotic Commanded my leads, hasted everyone, and when it began, made them all run but my lead Stalker kit ranger. I had Blackrazor and Celestial fury ATM, with Daystar in one of the slots. Basically, I fired off a sunray, ran back to the rest of my party, and had Immie and Jan cast spells like mad, while myself, Sarevok and Jaheria took em on head to head. Needed a few restorations and heals.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

I basically just used Sunray to kill of the Master Wraith first, then summoned in fire elementals and skeleton warriors to kill of the rest of the undead, fire elementals kick butt against all undead, except the level draining ones, the high level ones which Jaheira can summon is imune to many of their abilities, or you can you use the staff of fire to summon in a whole horde of lesser fire elementals, in any case I did not find that level that hard.
I care not for endings or beginnings, but for the eternal and infinite spaces of the universe, and for the endless exploration of eternity, and mysteries which I will find plumbing the infinite depths.

"Do not turn inward to find peace and wisdom, turn outward instead to find liberation from the narrow boundaries of self", quote from Gary Paul Nabhan, paraphrased of course

"When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong" quote from Arthur C. Clarke, thought it was interesting.

Tips on living longer: eat right, exercise, and yes castrate yourself, eunuchs live longer then normal people.

I played ToB first (till Master Wraith, then continued SoA :P ) with a Swashbuckler, not imported from SoA. Master Wraith wasnt much fun for that party, I never beat him.

Now I finished SoA, and am doing ToB with that party (Halfling Assasin, Imoen, Jan, Keldorn, Sir Anomen, and replaced Valygar with Sarevok) and he went down in no-time.
I had Jan cast minor sequencer with Magic Missile and Acid Arrow (to interupt casting for a while),
Imoen casted Breach, then Keldorn and Sarevok attacked him,
my assasin backstab'ed him and joined Sarevok and Keldorn. He was down within 10 seconds.
Actually when you make sure Master Wraith doesnt cast, those ghosts wandering around him are the problem, some of them level drain etc.

I just equipped my tanks with items that gave immunity to level drain, and made everyone else in the party invisible (using rings and spells). I just let my main fighters run around killing everything while I got my spellcasters out of the way.
I killed a rabid rabbit! I'm experienced now!

alright..you're all getting confused with the Wraith Lord and Master Wraith I think...anyway, it doen't matter I beat him now, but here's another question:
What's up with Turn Undead...my only Cleric is Aerie, she's level 19/20 or something, but her Turn Undead does bugger all. I have tried it on Skeletons, Shades of every kind, Vampires..and it has no effect whatsoever. They don't even blush....ideas anyone?

I had a rough time with this with my party, but did it the same way Obsidian did. With my solo Swash/Mage (dualed at 11), I nailed em to the floor with a Prot from Magic weapons, then a Sunray, and an Abu Dhazim's, and then a few whacks from the Staff of the Magi.

The game seems so much easier with a solo Mage....weird. Well, except dead magic zones in Watcher's Keep :-/
