I know this has probably been covered before but I don't fully understand how installing ToB works... I know that once you play it then you can't go back to the areas in SoA... but is it like if you install it when you select new game you can choose to play either? Or when I install it then I can't play SoA at all whatsoever? Just trying to find out before I install it because I don't want to lose the option to play SoA and I'm thinking about playing that mod for SoA aswell which says that you have to start a new game to play. Thanks for any help.
Another side question.. I'm doing the Jahiera romance and I have gotten to the part where you rest in the open and bandits come and you save her, I read up on a FAQ at gamefaqs what you are suppposed to say because i was unsure and i didn't say exactly what it sayed but it came out with a good outcome such as "I think i need time to think about this..." and its been almost a week game time and nothing further has happened. Have I screwed it up or should i keep waiting or is there some sort of trigger that I have missed or what?
question about SoA + ToB

Why blow up the world with all the nukes when you can end it with one single bullet...
Hey Chanser, sorry, but I can only answer your first question.
ToB is the Expansion to SoA. So basically, you don't get access to it until AFTER you have beaten the original SoA plot. The exception to this is a whole new sidequest called watchers keep, which is completely irrelevant to the plot but very fun.
I can tell you more, but I don't want to spoil it. Nothing will go wrong and you can have both installed at once with no downside.
Sorry, can't help about Jaheria, I personally think romancing NPC's is kinda creep.

If you're playing SoA and install the add-on, you can choose one of three options anytime you play: 1) you can continue to play the SoA game you have in progress; 2) you can choose to start a new SoA game, which will include the optional Wild Mage profession that's only there if ToB is installed; or 3) you can begin a ToB game, in which case you'll go through the entire character creation process with a bunch of extra levels to make you viable.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
ahh okay so let me get this straight... it won't take away anything i have already such as the option to play SoA either new game or continued... it will just give the option to start the expansion ... cause i was worried that once it is installed then there will be no option to start SoA over again if i want to try a different character or another side. Thanks alot... now just need that Jahiera question answered

the jaheira romance basically is a huge BUG.
it isnt that important which words u choose, as long as u dont offend her too bad, she will even tolerate that sometimes. u dont HAVE to say something special, thats just not the way the whole game is designed (well, except anomen and keldorn quest).
all romances depend on real time a lot too, between two dialogues u usually need to have played around an hour, and sometimes there is a trigger (like "rest outside").
after the rest outside thing the next is Meronia taking Jaheira to the harpers for a short time (u must have done Xzar quest for this). Next event is she returns, and then u have to go to galvarey. lotsa things that dont need a special trigger after that. reviane will come everywhere except dungeon (i did this after underdark cuz of sucky rest outside, he appeared together with drizzt), maybe u need to b in Athkatla for some.
depending on how far u r in chapter 2 or 3, u should use CLUA commands to force the next thing to happen every now and then:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("xxxRomance","GLOBAL",1)
where xxx is the name, in this case:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("JaheiraRomance","GLOBAL",1)
if nothing happens try to go to athkatla or leave the dungeon so the encounter can happen.

No problems, unless you plan to install TDD. You CAN'T install
both ToB and TDD.
both ToB and TDD.

Ok for one, I agree with you on the Jaheira romance being a bug, which totally sucks because I was actually starting to like her personality and how she grows onto my character, I found it kind of interesting and was into it... now its like how do i have to modify my game to get the next thing to happen .. its not so much enjoyable.Originally posted by Thrar

Anyways, I read that Meronia takes Jaheira... I gathered that the Xzar quest needed to be done because it basically unlocks the whole Harper section of the game. After intensly searching the forums I found out that in order to trigger the Xzar quest I need to randomly encounter some thugs and a poisoned guy named Renfeld who i take to the guy standing outside the harper place and then Xzar appears and thats how it starts... well I can't find this Renfeld guy or these thugs... i've done pretty much every quest that i know is possible so far... it takes about a minute or two to scroll down the list lol... all of the athkatla quests plus umar hills, windspear, trademeet... all done... just have to do the shadow thief thing to advance the chapter quest and i'm at day 45... it could be possibly that i randomly encountered them and missed it ... i encountered alot of slavers and ran most of the time... i think... and i'm not sure about this... but i think i ran into Xzar in the gov't district after saving Viconia... i'm not sure if that actually happened or not lol. And I think i ran into some thugs as i was leaving the docks district one time... but no Renfeld or anything. Any ideas how to trigger the thug thing because i've spent alot of time going back and forth between places so far and no thugs i don't think... i also read that you have to take his body to the harper guy... so i'm thinking if i can't encounter him maybe i can use the console to create item his body and give it to that guy? Or do i need to find him to get the quest first. Also I know your supposed to give Jaheira a locket from some merchant in the docks district which i can't find either so maybe that could be the problem. I appreciate any help as I'm pretty sure this hasn't been covered in any of the forums so far. Thanks alot.
Why blow up the world with all the nukes when you can end it with one single bullet...
can u stand the truth?
forget it for this run.
right in the beginning of cpt 2, u r attacked by a gang, u find arabanes sword among other stuff there. a little later, another gang attacks u, they have renfeld with them. after u beat them he asks u to take him to galvarey. maybe u ran away when they attacked u, i did that once cuz i was too injured, and it will never happen again. prolly u can CLUA it, dunno about those commands. then the whole long harper quest and lotsa dialogues have to happen, and i think u r right its just not as interesting as if it just would happen.
had similar thing just now, thought i could as well go back from suldanessalar, do my char quests (d'arnise stronghold things) and the romance, then i realized that the harper quest doesnt go on in chapter 7 any more. BLEH!
the other 2 female romances dont have those problems i think, as they r not connected to an NPC quest (not sure with Anomen).
i like the viconia one a lot atm with another party, not only she tells interesting things about herself, but the dialogues r great as well imo. i think it is shorter than jaheira, but i am almost thru cpt 3 and its still not near the end i think. also, the other romances should go on during chapters 4/5. still, i will try jaheira again some time

ok.... thats a little dissapointing... but i got that sword your talking about.... i thought it might come in handy so i saved it all this time and haven't sold it.... tahts just strange... maybe i probably did run away from them thinking it was just some regular guys. I think i am going to look up an item list and try and create his body to see if that will work... hopefully... if not maybe I can try Aerie... i think thats her name... what alignment is she and where do you find her? should i have found her by now? Sorry i got so many questions lol just kinda can't play the game till i figure things out. Thanks for your help again thrar... and yes i can stand the truth
