Kit creation help needed - dialog.tlk

Post by Xan deVir »

problems with my new kit

I finally finished working on my first kit - I used teambg tutorial, near infinity and notepad, everything went smoothly... until the final test  . my problem is that I cant see any text I added to dialog.tlk (kit description and titles) I rechecked the files to make sure I did everything correctly but I didn't see anything wrong there.

another bug I found is that my character doesn't get high level abilities at all, - I tested him in the starting area of the game, and leveled him up to level 40.

plz help me to fix these two bugs

yesss!! I did it!!! my kit works perfectly! :D :D
I wanted to share some info with you so members who are new to game editing like myself won't have to face the same problems as me. first of all download Drizzt1180's tutorial to kits (TeamBG), near infinity editor and backup your override dir and dialog.tlk. then read the tutorial and create your kit... now I'll explain how to fix the bugs I had:

1. No in game kit related text: when you add text to dialog.tlk with near inf it's added in the "No message data (0)" format so be sure to set it to "standard msg (3)" format.

2. No high level TOB abilities: Edit LUABBR.2DA, add your kit name to there and insert there the string from one of the classes that are already there. for example : "MYKIT.................Th0" to get high level thief abilities.

files that are also worth editing but aren't mentioned in the tutorial are DUALCLAS.2DA (dualclass permissions) ABCLSMOD.2DA (class bonuses and penalties to attributes)
and also XPLEVEL.2DA (set the amount of xp needed to lvl - thanx Sabre for the idea)

Cool. I haven't tried creating kits yet, myself.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
