Viconia vs. Lolth

I've just started romancing Viconia for the first time and i was doing some reading on it. So far it always ends with the Handmaiden of Lolth coming for her.My question is: Is there a way to avoid that and continue the romance?

in ToB you can, it doesn't matter where you are in SoA

at what stage in the romance does this happen?

in my previous game i was romancing viconia, got to the drow city, and nothing interesting happenned at the tavern 2nd floor, where the DeVirs are caged - is this the way it's supposed to go down? or was i not advanced enough in the romance?

if this is indeed the case, is ther a way to force it?

ALL the DeVirs should be dead! The BG timeline is really messed up.
Anyway, IIRC (have'nt played BG2 for aaaaaages) you dont have to be anywhere specific to advance the romance. Unfortunately Viconia does'nt say or do anything particularly interesting in the drow city.

i never went to the 2nd floor since my masculinity took bad enough hit when telling the daughter-***** that i was an eunich

(sp?), and didn't want to go through refusing to the other chick, but IIRC she says smth, but doesn't cause a scene, the gamebanshee walkthrough has a good guide to the romances...
