the way i done it was with a mage/theif who set loads of traps and when he appeared he died.

try sending a mage in and get them to cast morkindean's sword and then get balor out, then invisability and let the sword finish balor off

try aerie with spell triggered bolts of glory, don't forget to cast resist fear first....

my solution to all demons, aerie with triggered bolts of glory, does insane damage and is hardly ever resisted

my sorc at very high levels and cones of cold also quite effective, triggered for extra nastiness...

swords may or may not work, be ware of "demon overlord" effect, the gated in baalor in the slave lords will turn any creatures you summon hostile, to YOU, try gating in a fiend and put a summoned creature next to it, it will turn hostile. seems like gated creatures can override the summon ai and make them into its allies, cant remember about his baalor, I think its not gated so you should be ok.

gated fiends....gate another fiend, they will automatically go for each other, very fun and quite a show.

What's the problem with the Balor? I always just run up and bash, and he falls quickly enough (and that was with a solo character). Don't you have weapons that can affect him? Or does he cause fear in all your party members? Kill them with his Death Gaze?

Some general info on Mr. Balor:
  • You need at least +3 weapons to harm him.
  • He causes Panic in anyone he hits if they fail a save vs Spells.
  • He has 155 HP, AC -6, 4 attacks and THAC0 5.
  • He will try to paralyze up to seven times with his gaze.
  • He will throw a Dispel Magic and Confusion at you if he sees a Mage (of which you have three...).
  • He can see invisible creatures.
Have Aerie memorize one or two Remove Fears (the Cleric spell), and some Free Actions (at least one for Minsc).

Feed it summoned creatures to waste gaze attacks on. Skeletons and Invisible Stalkers should do.

Good info, Xyx...

I never had any trouble with balor either?? I just fought him today, sent korgan in and closed the door after him. I didn't even use a rage (i should've though, no reason not to.) Korgan took the demon down, alone, with the frostreaver axe. Korgan got beat up pretty bad but that's what he gets paid for :D
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

Xyx, as always you are very informative. I didn't have any trouble with him with my last party either. I had a Cavalier and remove fear helps. It is effective if you can have several people bashing him(ofcourse) not only because he dies quicker but monsters seem to lose their initiative that way.

Aerial servants and free action. Aerial servants can hit from 30-60(critical 60-70). Also, they don't turn on you easily, unless YOU hurt them (fireball etc.). Then free action your warrior(s) and use a mage to summon it. Have the warriors up front and the aerial servant behind. The balor will focus on warrior, and you get extra dmg with aerial servant. THen, keep your mages out of the way of confusion and use the odd holy smite or bolt of glory and it's done.Note: The mage should use lower resistance to make sure the bolts of glory take hold :)

Chaotic commands (lv 5 priest or druid)
Resist fear or remove fear
+3 weapons
You can always biff up your warriors with strenght potions ,haste etc
But Chaotic commands is a must(protects against all form of mind and movement spells)
Have FUN!
