Most experienced players may already know this but I wanted to post it so that others might use this strategy as well...
I use Imoen as my assassin. After Spellhold, I took out the Twisted Rune gang and gave her the Staff of the Magi. I also gave her a Wand of Cloud Kill and a Cloak of Non-Detection. With these items equiped, she is a great assassin! She can enter areas and let out some Cloud Kills and quickly re-equip the staff to remain invisible...and she is non-detectable.
Some may think this strategy is cheesy. I can see how some would say that but when I thought about it, it is totally plausible. If someone invisible and non-detectable entered your keep and was letting loose a bunch of cloud kills (and sometimes fireballs from a wand of fireballs) you would be in trouble!
