Two questions for a Berserker/Mage
We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence then is not an act but a habit.
In answer to number 1, the circus tent and the graveyard errands are pretty easy (although I could never figure out what to do about the Paladin one... help!) Slavers quest in the Copper Coronet is pretty easy, as is the murders in the Bridge district..... hmmm...... *think think think* I found trademeet quite easy, same with Nalia's keep.

Thanx for your help, and with that Paladin, you talk to him, then go to the other side of the Graveyard and talk to the little girl and that old guy. Then go back to the Paladin and then back with him, he will then take care of her.

None of the following quests needs combat:
Stuffed bear in graveyard, mouring paladin (note: the paladin & friends are only there in the morning, 6-10 AM), bridge district murders, temple ore quest, talking to Jan, talking to the guy who got buried alive, in Umar Hills: giving booze & swords to the kids, Madulf the Ogre's quest.

Also in Umar Hills: finding Merella's Journal (30K!).
Stuff that worked wonders for me:
Get Flail of Ages quickly; it's a great weapon that Slows big beasties and kills Mages through Stoneskins. Alternatively, you could go for Celestial Fury, but that's a lot harder to get. If you're going for flails, get The Sleeper +2 from the Copper Coronet. A great weapon for the first part of the game. Get Belm +2 later on.
Memorize Armor or Shield until you can afford the Robe of Vecna (which ROCKS for Fighter/Mages) and possibly the Bracers of AC 3 as well.
Get the Girdle of Giant Strength before just about anything else. Save up.
Get Vhailor's Helm right after the Girdle. This thing is priceless! Have your Simulacrum fight alongside you, use Scrolls of Protection from Magic on you (without expending them yourself). Use this tactic to kill off all the Cowled Wizards in 15 minutes, and do the Kangaxx quest this way as well.
Memorize a lot of Knocks.
Get the Shield of Harmony by completing the Trademeet quests. It saves you lots of worries when fighting Mages.
Leave the Dragons for Chapter 6; they don't have anything you need before that time.
Clone, clone, clone! Besides an Improved Haste, a Spell Sequencer and a Spell Trigger, fill all your upper level slots with Mislead, Project Image and Simulacrum. You won't be disappointed!
I recorded my Berserker/Mage soloing days in the Shadow Mages thread, not long ago (not much has been posted in there since... ). Maybe some of it is of use to you.

Speaking of fighter/mages in general...what do you think are the best weapons for them? Xyx has mentioned the flail of ages and celestial fury, but do you think that crom faeyr is worth some war hammer proficiencies. What about the staff of the magi? Or anything else?
Lars the GrimReaper, all powerful hacked sorcerer of the Shadow Mages.
Kick it!
Kick it!
I just started a berserker/mage tonight. I forgot how hard it is to level up in the early stages without exp from locks and traps *snores*. I'm about at level 10.5 and I couldn't take it anymore, too tedious. I'm also being weird, and going for quarterstaff for a change "Yea, that's right, I'm gonna go berserk and hit you with a really long stick" I'm planning on dualing at level 12. I have so many scrolls stored up in the CC its not funny.... including True Sight and Simulacrum

You should definitely get Crom Faeyr, but since you'll only be able to use it in the last part of the game, and it is almost as good in your off-hand, I wouldn't put too many proficiency points into it (2 at most, if any).
