"Opposition"
I wrote the title in speech marks because we don't know who might be enemies or allies, however, a thread was started over at Argyle about guilds and I'd like to know what you think our 'policies' should be with other guilds. Take for example, the Cult of the Unholy. These guys have 35 members so far, and they are presumably an evil guild. Ally or enemy? Guild Sin, enemies? What do you all think?

Again - this is imo stuff for in-game.
We can not set up alliances pre-game (or even discuss them) because that imo would be borderlining meta-gaming.
Remember we don't know of Cult of the Unholy or Guild Sin - because they are not made yet.
We do however( maybe) as players know about some of the NPC run guilds - becasue they will be up and running at the time of game-start. (It is unlikely that you would know something about all of them, unless your character has been schooled in such matters - mine, being a simple farmers son, would not know of the "big city life")
So far - imo - we can only discuss each characters relationships with these pre-made guilds (if they have any that is)

Yes.
Xandax, as always, has the right of it. For now, I think we should each consider how our characters would react to various ideals and actions that certain organizations might hold. Once you figure that out, you'll know what decision your character will make when confronted by these ideals.
As far as an official Banshee policy, my hope is that our characters will debate this in-game, their actions and discussions determining the path that the Blades take.
It does raise a question, though. How will we conduct meetings of this nature in-game? We'd have to find a time to get most people online during that time, and real-life tends to get in the way at times.
It's not really a serious concern, but one that I think warrants discussion. What do you guys think?

Totino's party pizzas rock! All a college kid needs to get by....
Well once the guild has been made, I see no reason (well not many) that these meetings can't be carried out Out-game on ei. this forum.Originally posted by average joe

Well my argument to this is that I was not speaking of individual guilds, I considered more an overall guild response. Do we actually ally with anyone or do we stay single and alone...Originally posted by Xandax

We can find out if we could ally with some or not - but we have to do it in-game
All we can figure out out-game is how each owns character would react to guilds.
I'd say that I'd hate to write of any posibilities at present time - thus I will not say that we can't ally with guilds - but I will not say that we can either.

I think a lot of this depends upon just how the guild gets formed in-game. What if Guild Sin has a hand in helping us form the guild in the first place. Do we owe them a debt? Do we form some kind of truce with Sin, since allying with them would certainly be far fetched at best. Or..., what if Guild Sin has made an attempt on several of our members' lives? That would change things dramatically.
Also, what if some of our wizards have ties to the White Mages?
A lot of this will depend on what happens in-game while struggling to form the BotB.

Besides the point that it would be metagaming to determine your reaction in advance, it would also ruin some of the fun, i think.
Character conversations are the most interesting thing in RPG's, but not if you know what your friend is going to answer.
I also suggest to keep out bio's to ourselves till the game starts, because it is also metagaming (except for ppl who already know eachother in-game)

As the second in command of this guild, I feel that in a way this conversation bears merit bringing up now and not. I would love to sit down and have a conversation with Xandax and another person on icq if they want to, from a purely introductionary purpose.
Currently our guild is not active due to a great delay in NWN. Also due to the restrictions of 64 players on a server we are still debating how we will set the guild up.
But as for alliances or enemies, the guild has it pretty black and white. You cross us, or muscle into our territory you have made an enemy. It will only be settled with you backing off, or blood being spilt.
You dont cross us or that and we wont have a problem. It all really will be decided in game. If we decide you have territory we want we will try and take it. Our guild is very mercenary based, and we have no qualms about muscling in. So if we cross pathes in game lets see how things pan out. They may be settled peacefully or a fully fledged guild war might emerge.
And since Argyle is fully PvP that is something that we will very seriously consider the ramifications of. Sin will roleplay, and wont not go to war because of worries for our characters. If a guild war does break out it will probably be very very bloody.
Also be great roleplaying as well and I hope no one will have ill will towards others that get killed.
As for the Cult, I am very undecided if they are roleplayers or not, and also worried that not many of the members seem to respect Argyles differences in styles from the vanilla FR setting. I personally wont have much to do though I can see us getting into disputes with them as myself and sin personally disagree with their views/playing styles/attitudes. Due to these out of game things we will try and stick clear because if we get smack talked by a bunch of d00dz like we fear the Cult are we will respond with butchery, no matter the penalties.
Sin and I both agree that smack talking doesnt belong in Argyle.
Hmm kinda longer then I wanted, pm me on ruminations or the SOS boards if you have any questions people, my messages here is kinda screwed up.

Re: Guild Sin
If you get a chance to read this, how will Argyle deal with none-roleplayers? I assume that eventually they will be ejected, but I could imagine a vigilante style band running around destroying people that don't RP...

Non roleplayers
I imagine (and this is by no means certain) that non roleplayers will realize that as a very heavy roleplaying world that they wont fit in and will be ignored. I dont see groups of vigilantes running around, as that would be lowering yourself to their level.
If those non roleplayers decide to grief it up they would be getting banned fairly quickly.
What I meant was if someone were to come up and speak dood to me I would pretty much tell them to sod off, if they persisted I would happily destroy them. But I wouldnt go around an hunt them down, I have goals to achieve
Still got to get Rhino to let me make that Troll Ranger to take care of PKs
