irenicus prison

hey. i am new to baldur's gate. very much a newbie. can't even get a character to LEARN spells in the tutor, but that's a different thread all together!

i am stuck in the prison. i have killed gollums. exchanged items with the djinni. killed a lot of stuff. found a lot of stuff. but i can't seem to get to irenicus prison 2 where i meet yoshimo. i did use the walkthroughs, but they were incomplete.

i think i need to find a key to use the portals to advance further i suppose. thanks for any help!

(Minor) Spoilers....

To get out of the first level, you need to give the Sewage Golem the activation stone. The golem will open all the locked doors. Go through these doors, south of the 1st bedrrom and you'll find another bedroom. Imoen will mention that this bedroom can't belong to Irencius. There is a 'portal key' in a chest in this room (you won't be able to remove it from inventory). With the portal key you will be allowed to use the blue portals to travel to the second level.

thanks dude. much appreciated. i thought i had searched that entire room. maybe i have the key, but the portals won't work, so obviously i haven't!!! i'll take another look at my inventory (for all the characters) and search the room once more!
