There are two threads by Cespenar and JCompton on mods right on this page. They include links to the mods as well. You can also check out craig's sticky on the The BG Reference Crossroads with several good links.

(Oh yes, the sticky is THE #1 thread!!!)

but I'd like to know some opinions from people who have already tried'em. My internet connection isn't the best, so I want to avoid mods w/ long d/l time, and then it isn't any good... if you know what I mean.

(Hmm... maybe nobody knows what I mean, 'cause my english isn't very good... ) :p

I hope that all of you corrects me when my spelling is TOO bad... life is all about learning! :)

You are too humble!

The Darkest Day mod is probably too big for a dial up, and it's not terribly good, to put it mildly.

The Kelsey and Solafein mods are very well done, in my humble opinion. They are probably worth your time downloading. I am using cable, and it took me about slightly less than half an hour each to download.

I have heard of other mods, but I have not tried them yet.

Hope that helps. :)

Too humble, eh?

Well, what do u expect? I'm from Sweden!
We're all like that.... unless you try to take our beer from us. :D :D :D

I think I'll give TDD a try anyway, 'cause of all the new kits and spells... or will it be enough with one or two NPC mods?

"Enough" is up to you, but I think Kelsey and Solaufein will certainly add a lot of fun. Both will work in an SOA-only environment.

Kelsey:
http://www.forgottenwars.net/kelsey/

- Adds dozens of NPC banters
- Adds new magic items for mages and sorcerers
- Adds new enemies
- Adds a romance for female PCs

Solaufein:
http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~weimer/bgate/

- Adds dozens of NPC banters
- Adds new melee weapons
- Adds new enemies and harder encounters with existing enemies.
- Adds a romance for any PC

Don't worry, I won't take beer from you. That's rude, even in Singapore! :D :p

As for TDD, I respect your decision. Taking into account your internet connection, I still need to remind you that the download will probably cost a few days worth of work.

Here are some more interesting links to help you make up your mind.

Link 2

Link 3

Link 4

Link 5

Link 6

Link 7

There are probably more, but these should be enough for you to make a good decision.

Cheers :)

I would say Solaufein and Kelsey. Both will give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Sola is about ~0.5 MB in size; quite small for what you get (a lot).

Kelsey is a bit bigger (though probably smaller than Sola w/o the .wav files) but it is compatible with Sola and you get very realized romance-able NPC and some new quests.

Take them both.

Probably take you about 20-30 minutes to download both of them together.
