Dual classing Questions
Dual classing Questions
I wanted to make a Fighter/Cleric much like Anoman ... only better. I wanted to start as a Fighter so that I could put 4 weapon proficiantcy points into War Hammer, 2 into Flail, and 3 into Dual Weapon Style. However When I dual class all those points disappear. I wanted to know if they come back eventually. Like when my character's Cleric level becomes higher than his Fighter level, or is there just no point in Leveling up as a Fighter?
Thanks in advance for the help

I suppose they should come back, as the manual says you regain your previous class "powers" when you surpass it with your second class and Anomen has them too.
Having 25 strenght isn`t usefull for non-Fighters? It`s news to me (not that I`m a walking D&D rulebook or anything though)...

Non-fighter classes also benefit from the THACO and Damage bonuses granted by high strength. My assassin appreciated having the Girdle of Fire Giant Strength.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Your proficiencies certainly do come back.. and you can add to them as you get more also clerics have very good thaco to begin with (80% of a fighters I think..) try dualing at very low lvl and aside from the hp you wont notice much difference and there are many cleric spells that give you exellent hp bonus' all in all if you cast the right spells you will find him a far more potent figher than any fighter (until high lvl stuff like greater ww kicks in)
BTW.. Crom is very wasted on a cleric as draw apon holy might and rightous magic will easily get you to 25 strength and since there arnt many more good hammers until late in tob you might be better of going staves or maces or even clubs.. there LOTs of awesome clubs
Try choosing bezerker as your kit since you wont miss the missle profs and bezerk is a nice thing to have

Well, I wound up Dual Classing my Berzerker at level 10, (I figured out then that the next proficiantcy point was at 12 and that it wouldn't do much that much good.
The bad news is, I just got level 10 as a cleric, and guess what, those proficantcy points did not come back. I had placed 4 points into warhammer and 3 into Dual Weild, and now that my Berzerker class is no longer "inactive" I have the ability to enrage, but no war hammer skills, and no Dual Weild Skills. Is this a problem with BG2? or is this what its suppose to do? If its a fault in the game I will use Shadow Keeper to fix it, if not, I will just grit my teeth and bear with it. Ohh and how often to Clerics get weapon proficaintcy points?

If you dual at lvl 10, you don't get that classes abilities back until you are lvl 11.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

You're better off dualling at levels 9 or 13, as these are where the fighter additional attacks per round are granted. Also fighter HP development seriously slows down after level 9. Save the Xp and be a more powerful cleric.Originally posted by Thorin1

There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't.
I think I think, therefore I might be.

Well, I freaked out for no reason, I did get the Prof's back at level 11, even though at level 10 my berzerker class was no longer "inactive". Thanks for the info though. Up to that point my Fighter recieved a Prof point every 3 levels, this was most certainly not true of the Cleric, atleast not while I was Dual classing him. Does anyone know for sure at what levels a Cleric gets his Prof Points?
Clerics gain another proficiency at the rate of one every four levels.
