I've tried a number of searches through the forums for this
I'm in the sewers (chapter 2)
I can't even go down the hall towards the cult of the unseeing eye enterance - it just gives a ? sign and says you are not ready yet or something like that. I haven't even met gaal yet (unless he is outside of the cult and i've already met him)
any ideas on what i've done wrong?
thanks in advance

Erm, havanf, have you looked here? The walkthrough at GameBanshee is quite detailed. IIRC, you don't need any special key to get to the cult.Originally posted by havanf

Spoilers!
Spoilers
Ok, dug out an old saved game. Do you see Keldorn standing near the entrance? If not, you have not activated the quest.
To start the quest, you need to listen to the group of people when you first enter the Temple District. The speaker will mention that the gods are false and there is only one religion, blah blah blah.
After that, people will follow him. A priest will then accost you asking you to follow him into a temple (which temple will depend on whether you are good or evil or neutral, ie, Lathander or Talos or Helm). Do so and he will ask you to investigate the cult.
The quest is then activated. Go back to the sewers and you will see Keldorn, and the entrance will be opened unto you.
Cheers.

What's sometimes forgotten is that you can't simply skip the vergal triggers that open up quests in BG2. Until someone speaks of a quest, it's often impossible to get to the right area, or even if you can, the quest item isn't seeded yet.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I went back to the game - I even put korgan into my party and talked to the head guy for talos (i'm evil so he's the guy that gave me the quest). nothing new in the conversation. I talked to the prophet and nothing new there. I went back to the sewer and the hall says "all you see is a wall with an eye scratched on it). for the time being, you are unable to pass.
I'm in chapter 2 and am playing a gnome cleric/thief.

This time, I am well and truly stumped. I don't know what's wrong with your game.Originally posted by havanf

Sojourner! Sabre! Where are you?!?
Seriously, methinks you need to CLUAConsole to make it happen, but I am no expert in this.
A suggestion is that you could perhaps zip up your saved game in question to let the in-house experts here take a look.
well fable was right - sorry to waste your time.
before i posted the save file - i wanted to make sure i hadn't missed anything. so i went back again to the high priest - and lo and behold - i guess i pissed him off the first time and he didn't give me the quest (though i thought he had) - so when i repented for my sins against talos - he gave me the quest and i could get into the are.
thanks for all your help guys
