Detect illusion?

Post by lompo »

How do you activate the thief ability "detect illusion"?
I know the button for find traps, remove traps/lockpicking/pickpocketing and hide in shadows/move silently, but what do you have to press to detect illusion?

detect illusion is active when find traps is active. it takes some time to dispell the illusion, though.

....which takes a lot away from numerous other thiefing skills such as hide in shadows, move silently (companion to hide in shadows), set traps, find traps, open locks

Meanwhile detect illusion can be accomplished just as easily by your priest or mage without detracting from their skills and quicker too

Detect illussion is extremely helpful - try it out and you'll see for yourself. Jan comes with a high percentage in this skill thanks to his gadgets.

Of course, you could use a Priest as well, but then you need to memorize those spells leaving you with less spell slots for other ones.

Never really used Jan much, which could be why I never found it useful. Now that I think about it though his equipment does have numerous bonuses for detect illusion. Ill have to give it a shot, thanks

It is actually a very useful ability. It would take an owful lot of spells to get rid of every mirrorimage in the game but with detect illusion it is easy. I find that it is quite quick also and it takes down mislead and project image and shadow door also so points spent there are points well spent IMO. A single class thief has enough points to distribute anyway.

i like it a lot. basically it seems to work just the same as find traps, which means that every 6 seconds (1 round) the char uses it. The percentage is altered by nothing, if u have 100% u will detect everything.
imo, it is very well worth getting, but of course find traps/pick locks is more important. the only problem is u cannot attack while using, but once the illusions r gone u dont need it any more.
with my 2 ppl party (F/T+Aerie) i got it after i had 100 in hide, move sil, find traps and pick locks, still in chapter 2. VERY useful skill imo, no need for true sight any more, and can b activated whenever needed.

It's one of the best thieving abilities.
Someone discovered that you can give the order to attack, then
Find Traps.
You'll dispel EVERYTHING WHILE FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's only that a thief is smart and doesn't get fouled by illusions,
even during a fight! ;)
(all the illusions worth dispelling are in battles...)
