Nothern Shadows Discussion thread
@Arcane: Considering Gylderon wasn't even supposed to be part of the fight in the first place...don't you think this statement applied to you as well? Now I don't have anything to post. The battle was over before it even started...along with anything Aegis might've had planned.Originally posted by Aegis
@Magus: feel free to post a bit of combat, but nothing that would be considered a resolution.
Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
I agree Magus, @ Arcane, when you wrote that message in you destroyed what Aegis had planned. His post above even said we were cut off from Anduin and Gilthanas:Originally posted by Magus

@Rest: You guys feel free to make your way wherever at the moment (though keep in mind that your pretty much cut off from Anduin and Gilthanas)
Please can you edit your post or remove it, Aegis obviously had a plan for what he wanted to do.

ok ill remove it but if we were playing it table top style it leaves the players (or participators) with almost no room for maneuvering their characters. But if Aegis did have other plans, ill remove it

Someone want to explain to me what was posted? I haven't had access to a computer all day, and no clue about what happened.Originally posted by Arcane

Also, are we reffering to the battle at the gorge?
Arcane wrote an ending to Gilthanas and Anduin's battle by saying he fitted a crossbow bolt with rope, fired it across, shimmied to the other side, helped you fight off the monster...Originally posted by Aegis

@Aegis: The creature took a beating, basically...
Now you're probably wondering why it has to be so restricted. Take a look at Roleplaying in Athkatla (not actually spelled that way, do a search on roleplaying in the ‘Speak your Mind’ forum to find it) and I think you'll understand. Most of it was freeform, with each person doing pretty much whatever they wanted. The result was utter chaos. That’s why we utilized the idea of a DM. The job of the DM is to manage the overall story flow, including the ‘plot’. As such, the DM needs some respect, deference even. What your last post did was infringing on the overall storyline that Aegis had set up. Remember: the creature is his character, as is any other character that he chooses to introduce into the story. Especially considering the apparent importance of this character, it isn’t a good idea to act on its behalf, or to decide for yourself what happens to it. As DM, that’s Aegis’s job (even if he tires of it sometimes
).
I think that about covers it. Anyone have anything else to add? Might as well clear up everything now...
@Arcane: Having played a little of tabletop myself, and DM'd two of these "stories," I can say with reasonable confidence that the two have some fundamental differences. Obviously what we're doing is a bit more restricted. On the other hand, it allows you sit down and think about what you want to do. That can come in handy, and adds a depth that I think you'll find lacking in your average game of tabletop.Originally posted by Arcane

Sorry Aegis, but I think your post is a bit late. If you disagree with the whole bridge thing so far, you had better intervened earlier IMHO.
No prob though, perhaps we can have (what I was hoping) Durn fall and that we should go after him since he doesn't fall all the way down somehow. Or the time we took so far is far more time then the time that has passed in the fight so far. Two different times so to speak. So when we get there, the fight is long since over. Then we had better slow down a bit.
What would you like us to do?

I was thinking that the bridge would crack, he would fall onto a a rock or something and we whoud have to think of something to get him up.
Or we could do what Aegis thought we were doing and move in in opposite direction, because there is no way of crossing and we are getting help from somebody. Perhaps even clan bettlehammer since they build the brige. (this would be best IMO)
BTW, I (we) weren't planning to interfere the battle, you made that clear enough.
edit, I deleted my post to cause it didn't make no sence anymore.

Sorry, that's partly my fault too. I should have checked the board yesterday. Anyway, I'll get a post up as soon as I can.Originally posted by Rob-hin

Edit: There, I'm finished...as is Gilthanas's part in the battle.
