I always had a thing for Edwin...
I think it's the accent!

No mention of Keldorn - I take it nobody here goes for the older guy!

There's definitely something sexy about Edwin...

Keldorn - too old, and married with children (I think)
Although I'm sure he was a charmer in his day

;)

My partner works in government, with an election coming up soon he's been extremely busy, little does he know that I'm fooling around on him by playing a computer game :D

BTW and MHO, but i like Mazzy very much ;) However, i'm aware my taste often differs from one of other male participants on the board, so just FYI :o

Dear Dragon (my hand hardly raises for wench ;) ),
you're very talented if you can see the male's perspective. My experience witnesses boys and girls often misjudge what the alternative side pays attention to. However, i might be wrong, because my memory reaches even back to the time girls tried to be charming ;) Nowadays, IMHO, very many have a belief it's enough to be sexy - save but rare wise ones.

Cheers Loredweller. ;) I don't, of course, in any way claim to have much of an understanding of the male perspective. I think, that except maybe in the case of those who are transgendered (and I have not studied that enough to really say), it is impossible to truly have any insight into the ways of the opposite gender. Nonetheless, I spend a lot of time studying gender, so I try to take as balanced a view as I can (for both personal and academic reasons). I guess that is why I favour gender history over women's history; it is far more balanced, and ultimately it provides a more complete picture.
Not that this particularly pertains to BG, so apologies.

i totally agree with you dragonwench,
sometimes i think we go too far in trying to validate our own place in history when it's already there.

How can you girls miss out on Mr. Joneleth Irenicus? Of all the NPCs in the game, he is the only one whose full figure is completelt shown. Remember the movie at the very end of the game when Johnnyboy finds himself in hell? He looks more like a mulatto body-builder than an elven court wizard. For a guy who must have spent more time in the library than in the gymnasium, his reflexes and musculature are pretty sharp.

Well I guess that this is going totally off topic, but I think that the poll on women players did the same.
Jennabard, you're absolutely right. One of my pet peaves is to see alleged feminists devaluing the contributions that women have made to society via more traditional roles. Such an approach denies female agency, and creates victims. Thus the sterotype of the weak, powerless woman is perpetuated by the very people seeking to fight it.
And Loredweller, that's sweet, I appreciate the vote of confidence on my convoluted ramblings.

@Dragon wench - ah, the separate but equal argument. I am actually doing a gender history course this semester, so I'll keep pretty much out of it - suffice to say, women don't have to act like men to make valuable contributions to society.
(And to make this vaguely relevant to BG2 ;) ) You can be a powerful daughter of Bhaal, but still love it when Anomen treats you like a lady... :)

@Eminem - Irenicus? Bane of my life, hurting just about everyone I hold dear? Just cos he ponces around wearing next to nothing? He's still an evil b*stard, besides which his face is rather unattractive... Perish the thought!!

Georgi, I think you make a good point. Here I am, a committed feminist (well by my definition anyway.....), and I kind of like having my knight in shining armour bring me flowers while vanquishing dragons in dank, nasty dungeons. ;) :o

Let's face it, we women have reached the stage where we want it all. Small wonder that men have trouble figuring out how they should treat us. If they open that door for us they might get...um...kicked, if they don't they might get slapped :D

Minsc will always be my favorite. He's loyal, dependable, strong, in touch with his feelings and funny as well :)

Dragon Wench: I actually have been called a feminist by some (okay...Waverly, so maybe that doesn't count) :) But, I also love the idea of a knight bringing flowers after vanquishing evil, calling one 'lady'. I think feminists today (at least people like myself) just don't want assumptions made as to what we 'should' be like. :)

i was raised by my mother. she was homemaker, didn't get a job until i was out of the house. so even though i strongly believe that women should get equal pay in the work force, i also believe that women should stay home to raise the children. yes we do want it all but we must have our piority straight when it comes to having kids. even when it means on settling into a single income.

but enough soapbox ( tend to get riled up when it comes to family) sorry

now back to the thread, i tend to go gooie when ever i go to a renaissance festival and watch the knights jousts. armour should be optional wear for men. make them look twice as good :D :D

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
