Is this cheesy?

Post by Mini Me »

I am killing time while I wait to get TotSC so I exported my lvl 8 fighter and started alll over again. This means I will have double special abilities and loads extra tome points. I have tried to justify it by getting a party i dont like much, Jaheira, Khalid, minsc Dyna nd imoen...yukky. Is it still cheesy do you think? Or just cunning?

This is majorly cheesy since a lv8 cahracter could do the whole game solo. However, becareful to keep you reputation around the same as it was the last time you went through with this character or some of your special abilities will be replaced with others. If you were good the first time and decide to play more evil you may lose cure wounds for Lachnars minor drain, or slow poison for vampiric touch. By your post, you seem to like a more evil party so the opposite will be true.
Give all the tomes to your PC unless it's a matter of getting an NPC to the minimum stats needed to duel-class.
A CON of 20 or higher will regenerate hit points.

Cheese on!

Cool thanks for the Con tip...Its not that I like evil partyies (although it is fun to go around killing everyone for pure joy) it's just these charcters....minsc is annoying, jaheira sux, Khalid is...khalid but i usually have Dyna and Imoen

I think most of us are to the point of doing different twists to the game just waiting for ToSC. Ironically I am doing the same thing as you right now just for kicks and I am afraid warto is right he could win the whole darn thing by himself it is so lame with a character that stong this early in the game......but it goes fast this way thats for sure........the only way to keep it interesting is to have the rest of the party sit back and let your guy do all the work by himself.

Well actually, the NPCs that join you are similar levels to you when they join, so i like to spread them around a map and do lots of things at once. Its funny though, because i just finished Nashkel and ive got an AC of -9, and everyone else is in the minuses (except Dyna)

I Think the party you just mentioned is the same party every good allignment player starts with.
And it´s a good party!

If you realy want a powerfull character, solo a fighter (it can be done) or a fighter/thief!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Every ultimate party has edwin in his team.

I think the best party is:
Yourself (fighter)
Edwin (Mage)
Branwen (Cleric)
Coran (Fighter/thief)

only 4 characters so you level up faster.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Yep, you'll level up faster but you'll also hit the XP cap way early.
A solo mage/theif is a power house.

Building on what UncleScratchy says: I would suggest playing through with a character type (ie class, race, gender) that you've never played before and with NPCs that you've never used. Even having different attributes can change the experience significantly.

Playing through with an ultra-powerful character is a good way to ruin the game for yourself which would be a shame since there is such a lot of richness to BG1.

First time I played BGII, I imported a "normal" character from BGI. However, the 2nd time I imported several "buffed up" characters, having used the tomes and I still found BGII a lot of fun (especially since my F/M could memorize all spells with her high Intelligence). So my advice would be to play the game with "normal" characters first and then play a MP game with some of your own "buffed up" characters (just don't go overboard with stats like 25; I had 21 in any basic stat at the most).
