Could somebody help me?

I really like playing BG2, so I need some help. I never actually owned it, my friend bought it and I full installed and he loaned me his disk 2. Eventually, he got tired of it, so he offered to sell me it for $12. So I bought it, of course, not knowing that he had scratched up disks 1 and 2. So, when I demanded it back, he had already spent the money. So, I've tried using one of those GameDocter things, wiping it with toilet paper, and everything short of smashing it with a burning sledge hammer. Is there advice somebody could give me? Thanks in advance.

yes, don't buy things unseen
and if you can't get your money back, you should exhange the word "friend" for "enemy"
