What do these spell effects do?

What do some of these spell effects do?

Detect key/creature/enchantment-

I have casted these all over the place and nothing ever happens. What are they supposed to do?

Feather - ?
Silence - ?
Sound - ?

i think they display the appropriate stuff on your map as an 'X' or something like that

It states in the book exactly what the spells do if you want to go ahead and look them up. I'm not saying that to be mean or anything like that just to tell you it's in there cause ALOT of people buy the game then rush homr to play it taking no time to read anything in the book. :p

i hope the book is big how big is it anyways :)

the bg2 book was huge

- Thief/Mage

Tackon's correct. If you've bought the game, the spell effects are described.
