i mean, it's a damn good game, but it got no uk (and i dunno about european) release. i had to get an imported copy, and, since my PS wasn't chipped, it could only run in black+white. this made it impossible to find the exit tile on the dungeon level things at the end, and since i can't disc-swap with a PS2, i can't run it any more...

That's sad indeed. At one time Sony was in talks with a company in N. America to make a EMU to play Playstation games. The company made a demo version and then quit. You can find it on the internet and get it for free (You don't need a BIO for it),.....but it does not have a save option. Any of the other EMU's for the Playstation are illegal, being Sony has a copyright on the BIO.Originally posted by Robnark

i have two questions about ff8:
1.Why can't the people who converted ff8 to pc use the better gfx system of the pc to make it look better than my old 8 bit nintendo?
2.Why can't the same guys optimize code? the world map looks like utter crap and still lags on a fairly good computer (at the time the game was released)
ff7 is one of the best games i played in my entire life, the movie sequence in the end with aerie "summoning" those green tentacle thingys (or whatever it was) to stop meteor actually made me cry...

i hear ya brother. ff7 is, as far as i'm concerned, the greatest game of all time. they had to bring out the pile of (relative) pants that was ff8 afterwards, though

okay a question i don't even know an answer:
after defeating the 7 dragons in ff3 what is the mob you have to fight-->reward you get???
and what is the annoying purple guy who you have to fight about 3-4 times in the game, the name and what the creature is
not very hard but just seeing if you are that good :þ

Well, based on that description, I'll do my best.
The purple guy, I'm pretty sure, if Gilgamesh. He is like a messed up ninja that appearers infrequently. Also, I'm pretty sure he never had a creature classification, if he is the one your thinking of.
As for the Dragons, Once you take out all 7 dragons, you get the Crusader Esper. Pretty much a nasty summon, that hurts both sides of the field. You don't actually have to fight a "mob" to get it though.
And yes, I do cover a bit of Secret of Mana.

So where would I be able to find a PAL version of Secret of Mana from? I'm going to buy a second-hand SNES and sell my N64 (I liked the old SNES, OK?) and I can't find Secret of Mana or Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fight anywhere.

okay, you would've prolly known this but i was thinking about the octopus look-a-like creature, the one you fight in the river-theater-river and so on, and ends up as a receptionist in the arena where you can bet an item and if you win you get a better item that is run by the chupon, his name was ulrus or smth like that?...
this is not a question, but did you get the gem box from the top of the tower where you can't use any physical attacks, man that was a tough climb, and the boss wasn't too easy either, had to teach everyone meteor to take him out, since i didn't had the patience to check if his vulnerability had a pattern... but the definately best item you could get was the relic that gave you x attack, Sabin was able to hit about 10 times with it in one attack and it did about 6000 dam each hit, depending on the mob of course.

Good thing for you that you almost corrected yourself, Aegis. Gilgamesh is the 'upgrade' to Odin in 8
Too bad the purple guy ain't Chupon
Ultros is the purple octopus, Chupon is his pink friend during one (the final?) fight with Ultros.
And personally, I think 8 is almost as good as 7 (I still think 10 is tops, though).

Yeah, his question was vague in it's description. I had a feeling it was Ultros, but thought that would've been too easy a question.Originally posted by Quark

Maybe I should see if my cousin will let me have his old version of SF2. He's got a Dreamcast now, so maybe that'll work.

They run at the same frequency and are both PAL but SNES's have a lockout chip that prevent PAL games being run on NTSC machines and vice-versa. I'm not sure if the chip will also prevent PAL games being run on PAL machines in different countries. Some games might also have protection codes that do this.Originally posted by Stilgar
