Why would you choose a Bard?

Post by Archeron »

What are the advantages of being a bard, wouldn't a druid or mage just be better overall.

Basically, a Bard's bard song and the ability to use items restricted to Bards (Bard song will cancel out Fear effects). With ToB installed, Bard song will become even more usefull. A bard will also have a wider selection of weapons to chose from than either a Druid or a Mage.

Read this for a start.

It's really hard to compare different classes - the Druid and the Bard have very few things in common for example. A certain class might be an excellent choise for one party but not as good a choise for another. The normal procedure would probably be the other way around though - first create the PC you want to play and then find suitable NPCs.

Life seems short considering how long you will be dead.

bards bards bards

Would soloing a bard be a challenge, sounds like a good all round character that would develop quickly.

It's definitely a challenge, but like you said yourself, they level up quickly and they're good allround characters (stock up on potions for healing needs and other purposes and you should be set).

Indeed they do. While they're not an über-class, they can hold their own in a solo game. Check Two's immortal thread on soloing a Skald: No deaths, no reloads. ;)
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
