Second Mage quest Help

Post by flash95 »

I completed the mussroom quest the next thing was to swap a fake soul gem for a real one.
first try
I went upstairs puth the fake jem on the desk then took a real one exactly like it and reported back.
it said I had not put it on the desk yet.

Second try
I put the fake gem on the desk and took all other gems off of the desk. reported back still said I had not put the gem on the desk
what GIVES!

You have to open the desk and put it IN the desk. I made the same mistake. Also take this opportunity to steal the real soul gem in the desk. You don't have to in order to complete it, but you can. I was sneaking when I did it just to be safe.

It's fine to take everything, which is very strange--I think the developers should have put them in some kind of see-through cage with a strong lock. As you're the only one seen going upstairs and a small fortune in soulgems are missing, I'd think the thief would be obvious. ;)

In that case, I'd think the Guild Leader (a rather tough-as-nails type) would perform a search on all people within the Guild, looking for the missing soulgems. After all, the Imperials search you if you're arrested. To successfully escape with the soulgems, I'd think you'd have to leave the Guild after planting the false one, place the soulgems in some outside container, then return to claim your reward. Just my POV. :)

The only thing that got me introuble was trying to use them at the same guild.

I stole them teleported to another guild
the one in the mushroom town (I forget name)
and used the enchantor in the bottom of the big mushroom.
sold all but the two most expencive gems (he could not afford them)
then enchanted a sword with distroy armor and a shield with distroy weapon.

went back no one has a clue... all is well :)

I went and put the soul gems in my rented room, which is the upstairs part of the fine clothier's store. Well, I never actually agreed upon a rent or anything but the lady doesn't seem to mind if I go up there and store all my stuff. BTW take the platter that the gems rest on too, it is very valuable and a delightful accent to any counter or table.

I think the enchanter girl is the one that would get in trouble, she's the one that left her post unguarded - it's RIGHT next to the door, ANYONE could just walk in and take the stuff.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....
