The effects of Charisma

Post by Archeron »

At the Copper C I talked to Le... the dude with sssssssss. for the first time, as my charima was only 5 at the time I couldn't go into the back rooms as he didn't trust me.

What other situations are effected by high/low charisma?

more for your money :D
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

There are quite a few other instances where low charisma will give differing results - though sometimes perhaps only in actual dialogue and not in the final outcome (not sure).. I don't know if romances would be affected, but it would be reasonable if they were. People won't talk to you nicely, like if you go do the Nalia quest :p .. You won't get more interesting dialogue and information from one of Aran's quests. You may be forced into fights without a chance to talk your way out (I think in the Asylum, though that might've been wisdom). Charisma doesn't affect pricing as much as reputation, IIRC, but I think charisma *will* affect pricing for the collector's-ed-shops that you can patch on.

Anyway, the group leader - which doesn't have to be your PC - should have high charisma when talking to people. Given that a Ring of Human Influence practically falls into your lap so early in the game at Waukeem's Promenade (circus), there's no reason not to be18.

Charisma over 18 can have a substantial effect on prices. Mixing the Blade of Roses and Nymph Cloak with 18 charisma and youll see a fairly substantial difference.

Edit - Yeah lots of dialogues are affected by Charisma, but not quests are blocked off fully by poor Charisma or new ones opened by high Charisma that I know of.

I suppose that would make sense if you're playing an evil group for very high charisma to help offset low rep... Never tried it myself, tho. (over 18, huh? interesting.... should try it sometime. I think I'm usually always around 14-16 so it doesn't affect me much.)

Well intrestingly, and unfairly I think, items like Nymphs cloak, Plate of Balduran, and Blade of Roses stack ON TOP OF Ring of Human Influence.

In essence I can have charisma 8, put on Ring of Human Influence to 18, then equip Blade of Roses to 20, Nymphs cloack to 22, and then the Plate of Balduran to 23.

Kind of frustrating to think of all of those times I was a Paladin and thought I was badass for having 20+ charisma. Any character can do it!

For buying/selling give the ring of human influence to your mage and have him cast friends (there are plenty of friends scrolls at the various vendors so you never really need to mem it). 24 chr. If you have any chr items he can equip then you get 25 which is the cap.
