More or less correct. Now I'm extremely dubious about them.

@Dottie-I promised Beldin and Eerhardt I wouldn't move the Rolling Thunder without them. You should talk to Beldin if you want to discuss changing locations; he's the driver after all.
We're really only here to prove a point.

At what point did this turn from a set of BS's amusing antics to a drunken rolling party? Not that I'm complaining, a very good idea, I suppose it is in the spirit of BS, but stop distracting the man (?) from his quest!! Have a lil respect for a love lorn hermit!!

I think this is where we set up shop here, and more observant members will see why we did so here.

I do hope we've made our point. :p :D

LOL Sleep, there's nothing wrong with XML. It is, unlike HTML, a semantically loaded language. Perfect for Database bods like myself. :)

Well, PHP just serves the necessary pages doesn't it?

I thought XML was convenient 'cos you could use a style sheet to add semantic content to the page as required but you can do this with PHP anyway. XML's real strength is inter-operability and compatability. It is also self-defining. That's the main semantic strength. It can carry its meaning to anyone, not just relying on <b> and <emphasis> tags. :)

Sounds good, my only problem with Stylesheets is when they are inproperly applied, one of our clients once created one of their own sites that was entirely impossible to edit because it was created by a program that used stylesheets for everything

I use style sheets occasionally for things like mousover links and what not, i will investigate it :)

@Eerhardt, i can wait.... :)

I see what you mean Sleep. CSS's can be a pain - its alright having a format to apply to pages but you can't then just tweak the odd page detail here and there.

Main advantage of CSS with XML is these user defined tags.

Say you define tags from DB fields - <name>, <DoB>, <Address>. You then tell the CSS to format any XML file with these fields in a particuler way:

<name> bright blue 6" letters
<DoB> bold
<Address> New paragraph with a <HR>

Then the CSS can be changed to display the XML tags any way you want.

Thanks for the info Grunt, i had figured it was something like that, i will stick to my HTML for now :D I imgine it takes as long to learn all the tags as it does with HTML?

So what do you write in Grunt?

** moves to secret laboratory and returns a while later with a fresh batch of Massive Chug C0cktail ** I figure it doesn't take too long to learn the tags, as we only have 4 training course sessions planned. Care to try some of the MC² while you wait, Sleep?

What are you planning on doing with your knowledge? Is it also compatible with everything in the same way as HTML?

That depends.....what's in it? ;)

Massive Chug C0cktails or MC² are composed of E.S.S., C.C.B. and E.C.h.C. The improved version is nuked with proton particles in the proton accelerator. MC² is known to have a few side-effects...

I'm probably going to use XML to define own tags for requests and experiment on using different style sheets. I believe you need a special parser to generate XML tags.
