Casters get infinite buffs in Sola mod?

Post by Glod »

Ok still not far into my first time through with Solaufein mod installed. I keep seeing NPC casters firing off short duration buffs long before I trigger any interaction, sometimes repeatedly. Now I'm fully behind the notion that casters would have stoneskin going into a fight since it lasts a long time, but protection from magic energy and things like that don't last long so wth are they doing casting it as soon as my PC enters the map --- and apparently recasting it ad infinitum if necessary. I do want harder, but I want harder in sensible and rule-following ways. I don't just want the annoyance of having to pre-dispel every caster cause he is perma-buffed in complete violation of the rules.

Someone please tell me I'm mistaken.

I agree, it's annoying. I can understand a few long lasting spells like Stoneskin, Armor and even Melf's Meteors but the rest is too much.

I and many others have talked to Weimer about it, but he likes the way it is so that's that. Try emailing him; maybe if enough people complain he will change it.

As for now, I'd suggest uninstalling (or not installing in the first place) the 'Slightly Smarter Mages' component of the mod.

Yeah, I agree, I removed that package.
Mostly because the merchants too started casting all sort of spells, everytime I entered the shop....
