Armor medium or heavy?
Armor medium or heavy?
Im starting again a new char and I was wondering if I should pick the medium or heavy armor skill.
Im trying to build a assassin-caster with some nice knowledge in Enchantement.
At the moment, the only drawback Ive foud with the heavy armor is the weight, but is it really revelant compares to the ac bonus it provide?

the only disadvantage is weight and cost, heavier armors tend to be more expensive than light armors at equivalent quality levels.
You ask - is [weight] relevant in comparison to protection?
I think that's a subjective question that each person would probably answer differently. For me, weight is very relevant. I try to boost the strength of my character as much as possible at level up, but even so I find myself constantly battling a weight problem
Theres some loot I can't take always, because it's usefulness to weight ratio is too low. And that's with a partial suit of medium armor. However, you or someone else might feel differently. There are certainly some battles I've been in where I've wished I had a better armor rating, but in general I find I can heal myself with restoration spells or health potions (which weigh .1 pounds) inside or outside of battle.
I dream of a day when my character can go unarmored, but I stick with the medium armor for the Endurance benefits over time.

I know there's excellent lightweight (glass) and heavyweight (dwarven and daedric) armor, but has anyone found an equivalent armor that's mediumweight?

well there's a few pieces of some Dreugh armor in the smith shop in Balmora for sale - I don't know if it's comparable to those types you mentioned but it's medium and pretty great - I'm sure there's some more of it around. There's also the dragonscale stuff which seems pretty good.

Glass Armor
Found Glass and ORcish armour, Glass had better rating(28 v. 24)
but I have not yet answered if Light armour protects better than
medium or heavy, certainly your training in each affects the rating,
but if heavy is better than light, would love to know...maybe it means something vs. haeavy weapons? No clue, but any input would be nice.
Right now, am level 5 Spellsword with Glass, seems to be best for 28 rating and lightness??? No clue for sure.

*Spoiler* Glass Armor
Believe I found in Ald'ruhn Ftg. Guild, room locked with Lock level
100. Had already designed spell for my Spellsword for Lock Level
100, there is a person there who walks around, waited till she was out of sight. Also, there was Orcish armor in there as well!
Big decision which one to wear. Glass 28-Orc 24 Ar.rating, but decided on Glass(higher rating, beautiful to see...) Hope this helps.

Thanks. It's amazing how much stuff there is in the game. I'd almost call it unbalanced--but really, nobody is forcing you to open locks.
I've been thinking about doing up a 100 open spell.

glass armor rating 28? mine's 68!
Is this a skill bonus? I have the light armor skill as a major, so it's somewhere around 40, and the glass armor I picked up has an armour rating of 68! Puts the orcish armor to shame, but I guess this is because light is major while medium/heavy are minor? Glass is also the coolest looking stuff I have found, especially when combined with the pretty green glass sword (which I will have to enchant -- right now it's not quite a substitute for White Woe). Oh yeah, and I better start leveling my character to match his loot...level 3 seems a little early to look this good!
