There is no such thing as an "energy drain" in BG2. Do you mean attribute drain? That goes away with a little time. Do you mean level drain? For that, you need a priest (or temple) to cast Lesser Restoration on the victim.

I think that lord of darkness meant level drain. In the paper/pencil game, using 2nd edition rules, the level drain undead creatures have is called energy drain.

But yeah, it's weird how it works because when you get level drained, the game acts like you are supposed to use a resoration spell. You can't just leave the level drain and continue because I don't know if you get any XP while drained.
I don't know why one would want to stay level drained, but hey, why not, if one wanted to....

For level drain, have your Cleric throw Lesser Restoration (a 4th level spell). If you're not on a high enough level, visit a temple and pay the priest to throw it on you or buy a scroll and use it from you quick slot.

You do gain XPs as usual while level drained.

The Cleric spell Negative Plane Protection, the Berserkers Rage, Boon of Lathander and a certain amulette will prevent level drain.

didn't know berseker's rage prevented energy drain...interesting.

Restoration has a major draw back though- fatigue. Fair enough if you're casting it yourself but I've always thought it was a bit mean if the recipient of a temple bought restoration becomes fatigued. Doesn't seem too logical. Casting restoration though a simulacrum doesn't fatigue anyone (except maybe the simi itself but who cares about him? :) )

To repeat what I wrote just a few posts up, there's no energy drain in BG2. You probably mean level drain, which is something entirely different. ;)

"Wraith: (AC: 4, MV 12"/24", HD 5+3, hp 3O, #AT 1, D 1-8 plus one life-level energy drain; hit by silver or magic weapons only)."
-from 'The Secret of Bone Hill'

I only ever played 1E D&D and always thought they were the same thing. :) What is energy drain in 2E terms?

I think it's already established that energy drain and level drain are the same for this thread, so it's ok......we don't have to be perfect all of the time!
