This is probably a stupid question, but how do I identify stuff I find? I've got a couple of items in inventory that say unidentified (a sword and an armor) and can't figure out how to ID these things.
TIA for your help.

I found the spell. I wasn't expecting the ID spell to be the last one in the Divination school. I guess you have to be pretty high level to use it, and have 4 character points to waste getting to the spell. I was thinking the ID spell should be the first or second spell in a school.Originally posted by nael
well, there is a spell you can cast by either learning it or using a scroll, or you can have any of those ladies who are on the outskirts of any of the towns next to a wagon ID your items.

yeah it would make more sense that way, but then again, we are all conditioned to the AD&D rules where identify is a level one spell.
i never bothered getting that spell, i just used the ladies, and stole my money back afterwards, i played a mage thief, who specialized in pickpocketing and the school of force and whatever the spell of teleportation is in. teleportation is just priceless.

Thanks for your help, nael. I found the ladies on the outskirts of Shrouded Hills and had everything identified. I don't think I'll waste the CPs getting to the ID spell. I've been working on the Fire school of magic, and will probably start on the Conveyence next; the Divination school doesn't look very useful until you get to the very last spell.

IMO, that's precisely the problem with it--not to mention, the Identification spell only saves you some cash. It doesn't give you an edge in battle, which (for me) is the essential purpose behind most of Arcanum's spells.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
one of the most annoying aspects of the elemental spells is turning into an elemental, my moron NPCs always dropped their armour and weapon every time they would transform, i don't know if main characters do that as well since i didn't focus in those areas.
i lost some really nice stuff first time through because i didn't notice what was happenign for quite soem time.

Is this in reference to the fourth spell in the elemental colleges? I haven't used Body of Fire yet (the fourth spell in the Fire college), and didn't think it looked very useful. I was going to use a CP on it just to get to the summon spell that follows it.Originally posted by nael

Thanks for the warning. I'll remove any armor and weapons if I decide to use the spell.
