least annoying npc

Post by dragon wench »

I am not sure if this has been done before, so my apologies if it is the case. There have been various threads posted about the most irritating NPCs, but in your opinion who is the least annoying, most likable NPC.

My own vote goes to Mazzy. She has a cool personality, and is a really awesome archer.

I have already replied it on the other thread :) : my own preference goes to Mazzy as well. She is the most gentle, kind and sweet NPC. And her voice, just perfect!

The problem is she looks like Tina Turner and she's a halfling (Mazzy, not Mrs Turner, of course :D )

Valygar, or Mazzy.
Both don't complain alot, and both don't have realy anoying lines.
Jan for example has funny lines, but they can become irritating.

To my big suprise the Neutral character (that shouldn't complain in any party) complain alot compared to good/evil members

Nice to hear. I really like Keldorn and Valygar aswell.
If I have to pick one I'd pick Keldorn because of his

He's a Paladin for God's sake! What you're expecting??

Well, I was thinking mainly female NPC's when I firstly replied here (I was coming for a Nalia thread, you see). But I should say that Keldorn is also one of my favourite NPC's. (I can't betray my friends, after all :D ) He's very agreeable and wise man. The epitomy of Paladin really.

Cheers

In the short time I had him, Cernd was pretty cool (as in least annoying)....a little off topic but did anyone actually have Cernd in their party the entire game?

Favorite NPC: Amazingly enough Anomen.....
Runner-Ups: Keldorn, Nalia, Minsc

Cernd seems like a decent enough sort, I had him for a time during my first run through the game. The problem is that his stats are not that great. In terms of being able to fight he is most useful when he is transformed into a werewolf, but then he can't use his spells. I realise that he is not a fighter but he dies quite easily, not something you really want in a healer......

I am curious though....has anyone out there kept him long enough to find out if he comes into his own at all as the game progresses?

Keldorn or Mazzy would take my vote. They didn't talk much for most of the game when I had them in my party, and that's the way I like it. Most annoying in my opinion is Aerie. Complainin 24/7 bout her wings! Pissed me off so I chunked her. LOLLL I'm evil!

I actually enjoyed having Imoen around in SoA, especially as compared to BG1. She was generally upbeat, except when the party was in a dungeon. Oddly, Viconia did not annoy me at all. I think this was because her character made sense to me and perhaps because I found her past so tragic. I kept Cernd for about 5 nanoseconds, so I cannot really comment on him. I really liked Mazzy, but replaced her with Keldorn whose stats I liked better. Anomen and Haer Dalis really annoyed me... but that is another thread. :)

Actually **Dons fire-proof armor** I quite liked Haer'Dalis as a character. I haven't kept him in any of my parties much, but he seems like an okay NPC to me.

I wish I could find out what that that merchant in the Bridge meant by "the usual", though.

I have to agree with Thantor, Aerie is by far the whiniest NPC in the game. Even Noober was less irritating.

My first vote would have to go with Keldorn, he's always in my parties He's rock solid, isn't overly talkative, but when he does have something to say it's usually important :) There really isn't many NPC's that annoy me. Nalia for some reason however REALLY bugs me Image I even enjoy having Aerie's company, she doesn't get to me at all :) She's always my preferred romance interest.

On my first time through ToB, I played Cernd through to to end. Once he gets past that big xp jump (lvls 14-15 I think, 1.5 million xps for one level yikes) he levels up really fast and starts to get a few more greater werewolf transformations. Shapeshifts combined with imp haste were very useful as was his ability to dish out natures beauty to any non-believers. The belt of fortitude gave him loads more hit points but his AC was always terrible (Anomen had the guantlets of dex) so he was never really front line.

Plus he has a really sad epilogue (sad as in boohoo not sad as in haha what an idiot) :D

ok, i find aerie to be the least annoying...

no surprise for the president of the aerie fan club....

try not romancing her, but keep it low level so she wont cry and run away, and at higher levels she is absolutely better than any npc spell caster...except tashia...who is far more interesting than the other girls in bg2...

immie is just too fun, and minsc is fun as aways.

far less irritating than jan, and while boo2 was fun, its ok.

viccy, ick...evil drow wench, jahirea, first party without her, and boy its a relief....

keldy is too sanctimonius, and patronizing, vaygar has as much personality as tofu, and cernd is such a loser....

sola is fairly irritating, but after i forced talked him, is quiet now, and looking foward to eclipse...

haer dalis must die, die, die...
anoweenie must die die die...

edwin is great, very funny, but he keeps getting killed....edwina is a riot...

korgan, his constant bloodlust can get old after a while...

mazzie is just too squeky clean...
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

Yes, he more or less needs the Gauntlets of Dex. The Staff of Woodlands is good as well. I've taken him all through SoA and halfway through ToB. He ain't bad at all but the time it takes to tranform from werewolf to human, so he can cast spells again, is a drawback.

Should I go take a few beers with any of the NPCs, I would probably choose Valygar or Jaheira. Mazzy, Cernd and Nalia would be invited, too. And, well, it's hard to exclude Jan with all his stories...

Bestest pals

Absolutely Mazzy .. quiet .. sooooo efficient .. without a hint of ego .. and just the sort of people you want in a team .. NEVER complained .. NOT even one chooo from her ever. And boy she has a lovely voice.

Jan was cool too .. funny fellow .. always upbeat too .. love the way both Mazzy and Jansen run whenever they are moved .. they never walk .. like the others.

I like Keldorn and Anomen when they aren't making their self righteous comments. Jaheira NEVER EVER says a good word. Even Nalia has stopped complaining her never ending "How are we helping the less fortunate by trudging around in here??" That was getting my goat .. But for some reason with her high mage level she seems to have gotten an appetite for kills and isn't complaining any more.

Cernd was like the most boring .. useless fellow .. only used him for his abandoned child quest .. and used HaerDalis for some spell memorizing to get some points.

Aerie is seriously a moron!! Verrrry irritatingly whiney .. always "me me me me".

Hi,

I would have to go with Immie. Loyal to end and never complained. After her, it is a toss-up between Keldorn, Mazzy, & Valgar(?).

Thanks

@ Astafas --If I were to have a couple of drinks with any NPC I'd also liked Valygar. Actually, I think this guy needs a couple of drinks to lighten up a bit. And Tashia. She would keep us a really good company!

Keldorn, Mazy, Anomen and Aerie are invited for dinner at home. ;)

Nalia, Minsc and Jan would be perfect for a month's travel in Africa or South America :D

Cheers
