Top overpowered items
Ok, wanted to list what i find is overpowered items
1) robe of vecna, with this mages becomes far too powerful with reduced spellcasting
2)cloak of mirroring, obvious reasons
3) staff of magi, its not THAT overly powerful, unless you use it in the buggy way, to take off/put on to stay invisible, but using it dualclassed makes it too powerful, as it counts as +5 weapon.
Thats my top 3. there are lots of powerful stuff out there, but not OWERpowered
Might have added the Crom Faeyr, but what you have to give up to get it makes it ok

Sigurd, Crazed Cleric of Talos, Servant of Evil.
I think teh cloak of mirroring is overpowered. The others are ok I think. The cloak is easy to get aswell which can't be said of the staff. If you don't read in a walkthrough then chances are you'll never know about the staff. I guess the same goes for the cloak but not to that extent. The robe...well I just like it

You can't handle the truth!
if you think they are so overpowered, then DONT use them!
and bio has stated you will need such powerfull items to survive in watchers keep..and finding even more powerfull stuff to survive against the odds..and there was something about that several items from bg2 basic could be upgraded in the abyssal fortress at your smithy imp Cespenar...you could find 2 more heads for the flail of ages..and a blue dragon scale as some things

Of course, they were there for a reason. But that doesnt change the fact that the game becomes pretty unbalanced, and i think there is nothing more unbalanced than a mageuser casting spells so fast. That spell that reduces spellcasting to 1 might be good, but that is a spell, this works all the time.
Cant consider Blackrazor overpowered, as you have to give up something good for it, and you can only use it in the final battle.

Try to solo a mage/sorcerer w/o the Robe of Vecna and Staff of the Magi and you'll have a very difficult time...

That seems to point up a significant difference between Europeans and Americans. A European says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with me?" An American says: "I can't understand this, what's wrong with him?"
I reckon that Stonehege was build by the contemporary equivalent of Microsoft, whereas Avebury was definitely an Apple circle.

It will make a difference in ToB.

From what i understood throne of bhaal is a new chapter, so you get to keep it all. But you can also start over, getting new stuff.
Thats just how i get it,might be wrong.
People say Kensai/mage is the most powerful, which might be true. BUt thats cause the 2 best items can be used by them, well the cloak of mirroring too, no wonder they are the strongest.

I agree that items like Robe of Vecna, Crom Faeyr are overpowered, but on the other hand if someone thinks that it too powerful then just shouldn't use it.
We must remember that e.g. Robe of Vecna is not the item that is avaiable in normal game (without cheating) - it could be bought only from bonus merchants from special edition.
I agree that there are more similar items, but in reviews we could read that in ToB there will be more powerful things like Cloak of mirroring because of hard opponents.

Using bonus merchants is not cheat, because they are designed to be in the game. And those items are not extremely powerful, and their power is in balance with the price. That is why they were not excluded in the "hardcore rules".
I agree that robe of vecna could be very powerful, but a goood mage/sorcerer could live without it (anyway the Amulet of Power is more important). Recently I have played with a solo sorcerer without using any items and it was very interesting.
The worst thing about those items, that the player may miss some parts of the game-play and it became a hack & slash. Currently I'm playing the speed solo with F/T/M, and those items make the game way too easy.
