TES Constuction Set Ques.

Post by fishhead »

I am at work right now, so I cant tell, but do we need to install the game or can the constuction set be installed without it?................cuz well sometimes I get bored here at work and I thought maybe building a nice home for my character would be fun............of course I would only do this during my break and lunchtime. Just like this forum..............yeah that's right............I never read forums or surf while I'm working ............really................no really..

Hi Fishhead (Just got home from work myself *yay!*),

I'm pretty sure you can just install the editor, but from what I hear you need to use the first disk (the one with the game on it) because the 2nd disk (the construction set) is supposedly bugged...I dunno. I installed everything with the first disk anyway and the 2nd may as well be a coaster for all the use I've gotten out of it :)

I know, as I'm sure you do as well, that the editor makes a unique icon on the desktop and runs seperate from the game so I think it would be safe to say that you can run the editor without the game...try it :)

As far as it goes, I would also love to tinker with the editor at work, but my partners would be really ticked-off if I didn't play 'Strike Force' during our lunch breaks ;)

Dont know if you dont need the game installed, but I am assuming you do not need the game installed to run TSE.

But, if you do not install the game, or you cancelled the TSE install during the game install you will get an error. Here's the fix though.

From the Elder Scroll Boards>Morrowind General section
This error occurs on some of the TES Construction Set installs if you are trying to install from the TES Construction Set Disk. You should simply install the Morrowind disk first.

If you cancelled the installation, you can still install the TES Construction Set by:

Put your Disk 1 (Morrowind Logo) back in your CD-ROM.
Right-Click on your CD-ROM drive.
Click on Explore.
Double Click on the CSInstall folder.
Double Click on the setup.exe

This will start the TES Construction Set Installer from the first disk.
Gonna try this when I get home.

I did this last night. I installed the TSE from Disc1. It never prompted me for disc 2. I think I'm missing some stuff. Plus, its buggy as hell and crashes on me a lot. :(

Also tested this, I cant see any models cuz my work pc does not have a video card that supports accelerated window rendering..............

Well I might be able to install on one of the newer ones. But for sure you will need a decent vid just to use the TES Editor as well it does recommend high res 1024X768.

So if you dont have access to a decent machine at work. Well I guess you should be working............ :p

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that you can have the game installed without the construction set, but you can't have it the other way around.

Well you can have it installed just not working properly.

You must have the game installed.
the construction kit pulls all of its object information from the game data files.
so even if you could get it to load (which you cant) there would be no objects in your lists to work with. :)
