Wild mage?

Post by Bruce Lee »

When I install the expansion will I be able to play wild mage from the beginning of BG2? That would be cool. Will I have access to the new spells?

I gotta see their promised "random effects": adds a whole new depth to the game, especially at higher levels:

You're facing an improved silver dragon with a buttload of resistances a killer breath weapon and a wing buffet that blows you over to the next continent (not really, but who knows :cool Image. Do you:

Pommel him with spells and creatures until, 50 tries later, you kill the bastard and collapse on your computer until next morning.

Use the wild mage to blast (imprison? petrify? heal? haste?) him and (quite possibly) not get his items.

Now where can I find this Nahal's reckless dweomer? I think I haven't seen it anywhere...not sure though.

Robin Hood
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

Only by shadowkeeper Image there are no wild mages you might hire Image There even isn't supposed to be a scroll you might learn it from. Though there might be NPC or monster using the spell, you cannot find any to do it for you Image

there has to be some great advantage of being a wild mage. What are the benefits of having random spells? to unstabile like the Wand of Wonder if you ask me so there has to be some catch to it.

as he doesn't have compelte control over his magic, sometimes it backfires, sometimes it goes according to plan, but sometimes his spells end up being MUCH more powerful then an ordinary mages.

While this balances out in a regular RPG, I think it might make him much more powerful in a CRPG where generally the response when things go wrong is to just reload.

well yeah, but that is very poor roleplaying.

I bet i can kill Firkraag with a level 7 party if i try a 100 times, at least once, get the point?

Not saying I disagree, that's just the way it tends to happen...then people complain it's too easy.

I can insta-kill Firkragg about 1/5 of the time with a level 13 solo monk (or any mage with a scroll of Finger of Death) ...must be too easy Image
