How do you do this? A couple of times at random when i move my mouse wheel (i use the mouse wheel to go through the list of magic stuff) its come up you cant delete that item or are you sure you want to delete that item. I can`t seem to find how to turn it on or off or what key to use?

Leviathan's right.
Just hold the shift key and click the spell you no longer want (comes in REAL handy when you start creating your own and just want to clear out the junk)

there is a bug where sometimes the "delete spell" key will get stuck on. Sometimes you can clear it by tapping the shift key a bunch of times, sometimes you have to exit out of the game and restart to fix it.
