lol, no we r all talking about a game we played some time long ago ^_^, ahhh back when i was young...

i suppose the place where u r is Brynnlaw, should b chapter 4. in the main storyline this isnt really far, but depending on how many of the quests u did it can b up to about half the game time.
expect to have ~3 million XP per member in the end, with a 6 member party. if ur current XP is lower than ~1.2 million (and i am right about the place), u have missed quite a lot. if u have done almost everything in the previous chapters, XP should b ~1.7million or a bit more.
the more u have, the easier the next parts might b, but u will b able to do the things u left out later.

if u havent, download the latest official patch and the baldurdash fixpack. there r several mods u might consider, however on ur first time through i think it might b best to learn about the game, and start experimenting later on.

And have played again and again - and are playing again ;)

@nba - welcome to GB, it is a great source of advice :) The stickies at the top of the page are worth a read, and the search function is a first stop for most questions - that way you will not upset those that have been there and done that and therefore have less patience for newcomers :)

If you want off topic chat - come over to Speak Your Mind sometime :)

I still play, there are so many options to keep the game intresting.
- All romances
- Take all NPC's atleast once in you're party
- Play a solo game
- Play a evil game (i always used to play good)
- Play many different classes
- Only play the main story line (and thus miss out alot of great items)
- Play edited characters (read BunBun)

And just play again and again and again.

I agree with Stilgar, but I have a serious problem (quite a few actually):

-- I can't play an evil game
-- I can't say goodbye to NPC's who joined me the previous time.
-- I can't stand the thought of missing out so many nice equipments!! :D

Oh, yes, I forgot: I'm still playing -- once more! Since I've got BG series I haven't looked for any other game. And I feel very very sad that ToB was the last episode of this wonderful game. Did I tell you? I'm seriously addicted to it.

Cheers

I can't either. I simply cannot stomach the thought.
-- I can't say goodbye to NPC's who joined me the previous time.

Me too. I did swallow hard, though, and tried Viconia in the party (I let Anomen go). I have discovered that she is thoroughly gross, and I needn't ever try that again! :(

I also swallowed hard and said bye to Minsc once I ran into Keldorn in the Temple sewers, simply to try him out (I was playing a ranger that time; I usually play paladins). Now I like him, too, and find myself in a quandry: Minsc or Keldorn? Raaaarrrrgggh!

Sheesh, I like Keldorn so much, I'll take him on board even when my character is a paladin. :)

The best reason for playing IMO has been the introduction of Kelsey, Soulafein, etc: new, thoroughly worked-out party NPCs, who are (in some cases) accompanied by tweaks to monsters and areas which redefine that which is old and too well known. Kudos to the modders. :)

I've had BG2 for a while now, and I'm still going strong. The opening dungeon is getting a bit old though.

And like Ysh said, drop on by SYM sometime.

I'm trying an evil game right now, and it's fairly limited in options and quest rewards. But I haven't tried it before, so I'll stick to it and go through just to see what it's like. I'm trying to get my Barbarian up to level 40 (my archer's almost at level 40 too) so I'll probably have to export/import him once I'm done.

@Fable-Maybe we should have a sticky with links to the BG2 sections dealing with the most common questions ie. How do I kill Kangaxx?

@Aubrey, Chanak: so we are siblings!! :D
I'd also want to take always with me my old companions,
but I forced myself to do otherwise, really, I have to try
what the game can offer, and the new NPC from Mods
(right Fable, the mods have been a great gift...
but those new MindFlyers!!! )
Just place them in a safe place and you'll feel alright!

I'm addicted to the game too (this is obvious), the
game is unbelievable, you can play it in many different
ways, and it goes from simple combat situations like in BG1
to the epic and incredible fights at the end of ToB
(or Ascension! ;) )

It's not so much Ilyich as it is having to go through the dungeon over and over again, having been through it so many times already. I get so bored of it, at least you can do the other dungeons a bit differently, with different characters and equipment, but Irenicus dungeon is just boring.

When i'm not soloing, I take everybody with me, and dump the once I don't want in my party as soon as I get their replacement.

OK, here's one for you guy's to try out, (i'm actually playing it now).
Not a good party, not an evil party, just neutral.
So just pick up the neutral NPC's. And to make it abit more interesting, try not playing a cleric or fighter. Actually, go for druid. It's abit different from my previous parties, and less battle orientated. It's a good change after playing BGII so many times.

Ok,
then you would have:
- Jan
- Cernd
- Hear'Dalis
- Jaheira

If i'm not mistaken this are all neutral NPC's.
Or are there more?

Could be done, Jaheira can be used as a tank, and so can Hear'Dalis and Cernd
Only problem is that you don;t have any realy powerfull tanks, and you miss out on some mage spells.
Unless you play a mage youreself.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
