whats the deal with ex monks?
if were to be playing as a lawful evil monk, to what extent would i be able to kill people? is it completely in the DM's control, or is there some generic device that will excommunicate me at some point without the DM's consent? if my party memebers start a fight, can i kill freely within it regardless of how innocent my hostiles are?
As a Monk you aren't restricted to what you can kill. If your Lawful Evil believes he will gain power, wisdom or some form of gain from killing someone, then it should be perfectly able to.Originally posted by buffheman

The problem is if your party is Good aligned and stops you from killing someone, or if your DM discriminates against random killing.

@/-\lastor: You CAN multiclass with monk in core 3e rules. It is just that there are certain restrictions about it. You can for example begin with some other classes and start as a monk later on. The restriction is that once you have taken monk levels and then take another class level you can't take any more monk levels.
That was the core rules. In FRCS there are some combinations that a monk can multiclass freely with. I'm sure there are other exceptions as well.

A monk's only alignment restriction is that he must be lawful. Killing would probably be a chaotic trait if each murder did not serve some particular purpose (reckless murdering in the streets is chaotic). So long as you mantain personal discipline and order in whatever you must do, you shouldn't suffer any penalties (and even if you do, your only penalty would be that you couldn't progress in levels until you reformed; you still keep all your current monk abilities).
